Production has wrapped on the new Prime Video series The Narrow Road to the Deep South, with two new first-look photos of Jacob Elordi.
The 26-year-old Aussie actor plays Lieutenant-Colonel Dorrigo Evans in the series, based on the critically-acclaimed 2013 novel by Richard Flanagan.
The new images reveal a first look at Elordi’s Evans and Odessa Young’s Amy Mulvaney in the series, which just wrapped five months of production.
The series is set in Elordi’s native Australia, against the ‘shadows of World War II’ following how Evans and Mulvaney’s brief love affair shaped his whole life.
The Narrow Road to the Deep North will be told through multiple different time periods including his childhood and his time as a prisoner-of-war on the Thailand-Burma Railway as a young man.

It also showcases Evans later in life, as a respected surgeon and Australian war hero, with the film described as, ‘a love story to sustain audiences through the darkest of times.
It is also called, ‘an intimate character study illustrating the strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity, and an investigation into a marriage and an unforgettable love affair.’
The cast also includes Ciaran Hinds as the older Evans, Olivia DeJonge, Heather Mitchell, Thomas Weatherall, Show Kasamatsu and Simon Baker.
Amazon announced the start of production and the cast back in late November, though it’s unclear when the five-part miniseries will debut.
The novel – which won the 2014 Booker Prize – was adapted by Shaun Grant (Mindhunter, The Snowtown Murders) and directed by Justin Kurzel (Macbeth).
The Narrow Road to the Deep North is produced by Curio Pictures in Australia, with Jo Porter and Rachel Gardner executive producing for Curio.
Writer Grant and director Kurzel will also serve as executive producers, with Alexandra Taussig producing.
The critically-acclaimed novel was based partly on the experiences of Flanagan’s father as a Japanese prisoner of war.

The character of Dorrigo Evans is also partly based on Australian war hero Edward ‘Weary’ Dunlop, an Aussie Army doctor who struggled treating patients during the construction of the Burma Death Railroad.
‘With talents like Jacob Elordi, Ciarán Hinds and Odessa Young at the helm, The Narrow Road to the Deep North promises to be a cinematic, visceral, and undeniable contemporary love story, which explores the power of mateship and the strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity,” said Sarah Christie, senior development executive at Amazon MGM Studios in November.
