The first teaser for the movie Candy Cane Lane was released on Thursday.
Eddie Murphy, 62, stars with Tracee Ellis Roos playing his wife.
The synopsis: A man makes a deal with a mischievous elf who casts a magic spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life.
The film, directed by Reginald Hudlin, is set to be released on December 1, 2023.
The clip opens with Murphy decorating his suburban house for Christmas, much to the annoyance of his daughter.
‘I just want this to be the best Christmas ever,’ the comedian is heard saying in voicover.

When he steps into the Kringle store and is surprised by a woman as he looks at the gorgeous decorations, it is hinted something could go terribly wrong.
And it does.
Christmas turns into chaos. ‘This is crazy,’ says Murphy’s character as Drake’s name is dropped as part of a family joke.
Prime Video released first looks of the film on Tuesday.
The studio shared a poster featuring the Oscar nominee holding a string of holiday lights and wearing a black turtleneck sweater with a graphic of Santa riding a unicorn.
‘Don’t elf around with holiday magic,’ the publicity department wrote next to the photo on social media.
‘Candy Cane Lane premieres December 1 on Prime Video.’
It is his first live-action holiday movie in his 40 plus year career.
The film re-united Eddie with Boomerang director Reginald.
The director described Eddie’s character, Chris Carver, to People, as a man who loves Christmas so much he’s even given all his kids Christmas-themed names.’
The kids are called Holly, Joy and Nick.
When Chris is unexpectedly laid off just before the holiday season, ‘he throws himself into winning the Candy Cane Lane house-decorating contest in his neighborhood, which has a huge cash prize,’ the director explained.
However, after finding some amazing 12 Days of Christmas decorations Chris feels sure will put him ahead of the competition, he discovers they have been cursed by ‘a wayward elf named Pepper’, played my Jillian Bell.
‘Now instead of winning it all, he could lose it all!’ the filmmaker explained.

The cursed ornaments are played by Nick Offerman, Chris Redd and Robin Thede.
‘Nick Offerman plays a proper English gentleman from another era, while Robin Thede plays a Kardashian-ish power shopper and Chris Redd is a working-class everyman,’ director explained.
‘They don’t get along that well, but they are allied in their urgent need to escape from Pepper’s clutches.’
He described Pepper as someone who ‘takes the “coal in stocking” punishment to absurd lengths.’

‘She’s out to penalize anyone who she thinks deserves it, and that includes pretty much everyone.’
Ross, 50, stars as Chris’ wife, Carol, who is holding the family finances together and up for a promotion at the distribution center where she works as an executive.
‘When Christmas and her family are threatened by supernatural forces, her Mama Bear instincts kick in to the fullest,’ Reginald contended.
‘I can say confidently you’ve never seen a holiday movie like this! We have jump scares, car chases and kung-fu fighting, plus all the holiday feels,’ he revealed.
