Fern Britton has revealed she refuses to watch herself on Celebrity Big Brother because it would ’embarrass her’.
The TV presenter, 66, was saved by the public during evictions and reached the final of the ITV show last week, finishing in fifth place.
Yet speaking about her stint in the famous house during Wednesday’s This Morning, Fern confessed that she felt ‘pathetic’ because her emotions were heightened.
She told Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley: ‘I’m not going to watch any of it back because I don’t want to embarrass myself and feel ghastly.’
Discussing the many scenes of her crying in the house, she continued: ‘It’s so pathetic, I’m so sorry. But all your emotions are heightened then all it takes is someone being nice to you.’

Fern – who hosted This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield from 2002 until 2009 – also admitted that she likes to ‘feel uncomfortable’ as she recalled feeling ‘spaced out’ upon entering the house for the first time.
She said: ‘I could do with an adventure, and I haven’t had an adventure for a little while. I quite like feeling uncomfortable and I thought I’d give it a go.
‘Before you go in, you are kept for about 36 hours – it feels like days on end – in a hotel room with a chaperone. No phone, no watch, no television, no radio, no book.
‘I did sneak out now and then to just walk the corridor. So I was already spaced out. The game had started in all of our heads by getting us confused in our heads.
‘All of a sudden you’re in a dress, in make up, in a car and then you go in. There’s bloody AJ and Will and you’re walking up a ramp in the rain. Literally extraordinary.’
The former Ready Steady Cook host – who split from celebrity chef Phil Vickery in 2020 after two decades together – finished behind X Factor judge Louis Walsh, Coronation Street actor Colson Smith, Strictly Come Dancing professional Nikita Kuzmin and reality star winner David Potts.
But she recalled ‘willing’ herself to sleep in the run-up to the end of the competition, as she noted some ‘painful’ moments included the shock backdoor eviction of Heartstopper star Bradley Riches.
She added: ‘Locked into a big room with 12 other people. No windows, no daylight, no nothing, Except a sort of low light under the beds all the time.
‘It was weird, very weird. After, I think I did 19 nights, the last few, I found really hard and was just willing myself to sleep.’

Fern’s chat with Ben came 20 years after the new permanent host made his This Morning hosting debut (pictured on the show in 2004)
She continued: ‘Then those hours would be done and then you’d wake up and you’d still be locked in. Suddenly, the lights would go on and they would play music.’
‘It makes emotions very heightened. I think a lot of us wept. It was literally just an alien environment, a lot of it was good fun, fascinating to be a part of and then bits of it were painful.’
Fern also reflected on her unexpected feud with Strictly star Nikita.
The pair butted heads in tense scenes, with Fern admitting she was offended when Nikita had attempted to compliment her fashion sense.
He later knocked her flying into the sofa during a chaotic shopping task set by Big Brother in which she had to get checked over by a medic.
She shared: ‘I can’t even remember what I said now. He thought it was something to get at him but it wasn’t.
‘He had put me up for nomination and he told me it was because I went to bed early and I couldn’t do his gym sessions.’
Referencing her fall, she admitted: ‘It was crazy. It really did hurt. David sat on the sofa while I was in the shower to make sure I was ok.’

Nikita also addressed the situation during Monday’s episode of Loose Women, as he explained: ‘The thing is I did not forget I was being filmed but I thought most of it was going to get cut.
‘So I was sure some bits, which after when I came out everybody was like so you knocked out Fern… I was like s**t.’
The Loose Women panellists gasped while Katie Piper reminded Nikita that he was live on air as she responded: ‘We can’t cut that it’s live telly.’
After apologising he corrected himself: ‘I was, in that moment, confused, perplexed, bamboozled, everything at the same time, I was really confused on what we were talking about but the most important thing was we cleared it up in the end.
‘We probably misunderstood each other and I’m always really sorry if I offend anyone in any way. I never have bad intentions with anybody.’
