Faye Brookes has revealed that her husband Iwan Lewis asked her to marry him on their very first date, 10 months before they walked down the aisle.
The former Coronation Street star, 36, married theatre and film actor Iwan, 35, in a picturesque Cotswolds ceremony, at the end of August last year.
The couple had only been dating for four months before getting engaged and then tied the knot just seven months later.
They had been good friends for 16 years, but Faye explained that she was hesitant to view Iwan romantically, as she feared it would jeopardise their friendship.
She revealed that this changed on their first date, when Iwan revealed the depth of his feelings for her as he popped the question.

Speaking to OK!, she said: ‘He has always made his feelings very open to me. But I was worried that if I was to have a relationship with him, it would really risk our friendship, which I value so much.
‘But when we went on our first date, he gave me a piece of paper that said, “Will you marry me?” He didn’t get down on one knee and it wasn’t a proposal – but it was him saying, “I’ve always loved you and I want to grow old with you.”
‘And these things made me look at him differently and think, “Oh, you’re not just my friend”.’
Faye admitted that she has ‘never been so content’ since getting married and moving to the Cotswalds, calling it the ‘best decision I ever made’.
She gushed that Iwan was her ‘best friend’ and being with him made her feel as though she has ‘this undeniable kind of safety net’.
Faye said: ‘I just feel as if we have known each other for ever and ever. We’ve been through a lot as friends and then we’ve made the ultimate commitment, to get married. We’ve got each other. We don’t want anybody else and we’re very, very comfortable.’
She added: ‘I’m just happy. And that’s really grounded me and given me a lot more clarification of thought about what I truly want.
‘He is everything. I think I’ve gained more from being with him in a short space of time than I have in my entire life. I think that’s a sign that we’re very close and comfortable with one another. Getting married was the easiest decision.’

The actress announced her engagement in January 2023 after just four months of dating Iwan, who she met in 2011 while starring in the stage production of Legally Blonde.
In December 2022, they went Instagram official as Faye shared a photo of the pair silhouetted in front of the window as they wrapped their arms around each other for a steamy kiss.
After just four months of dating, Iwan got down on one knee to pop the question and the couple wasted no time to say ‘I do’.
Faye was previously in a relationship with personal trainer Joe Davies, but they split up in July 2022 after three years of dating.
The Dancing On Ice star also previously dated singer Gareth Gates on and off for seven years.
The former couple got engaged in January 2019, but called off the wedding in August that year and split.
