Farrah Abraham is speaking out about a recent proposed Florida law that would prohibit social media usage for minors under the age of 16.
The 32-year-old Teen Mom OG star – who was recently sued for alleged assault and battery – spoke with TMZ about the law.
The law overwhelmingly passed in a bi-partisan vote 103-17 on Wednesday in the Florida House of Representatives, and now it goes on to the Florida Senate.
‘So, I think Florida’s law that they’re trying to pass all the way to ban any social media for anyone younger than 16 year-olds, to not use social media, I feel like for myself, I have taken the time to let my daughter know about like tools, other people who are running these social platforms, have creators come together for safety, to report people, all of those things,’ she began.
‘So, social media has been a successful, helpful tool, and when we’ve noticed, whether that’s bullying, predator-ship, just online criminal activity, we turn those things in and people have been removed,’ Abraham continued.

‘But I do not feel that children need to, basically, be to blame for other adults and other predators and other bullies not being held accountable,’ she added.
She added that she thinks, ‘a big issue in our justice system is penalizing the innocent, and allowing criminal activity to go rampant.’
‘I hope to help children, I hope to advocate, and I know my daughter Sophia has stated she is not OK with children being taken offline,’ she said.
‘That’s an outlet for creativity, for mental health, for wellbeing, you know, that could be used for success,’ she added.
‘I tell parents who do not allow their children on social media, they have not equipped them to be successful adults when they grow up,’ she added.
‘You can’t hide from the Internet your entire life, and I just think it’s an injustice to what we need for our mental health, our wellbeing and our safety growing up,’ she concluded.
Her stance comes just weeks after Abraham was sued by a female security guard who claimed she was injured in an incident that lead to Abraham’s January 2022 arrest.
The lawsuit alleges she lost wages and racked up significant medical bills from the alleged attack.
‘But I do not feel that children need to, basically, be to blame for other adults and other predators and other bullies not being held accountable,’ she added
The reality star was pictured being escorted out of the restaurant and bar Grandmaster Recorders in Hollywood.
She was subsequently seen being pinned to the ground on her side by someone who appeared to be a security guard.
The reality star was subsequently arrested and charged with battery, and she claimed she had become ‘suicidal’ and suffered lingering physical damage as a result of the restrained on the ground.
A representative for Abraham told DailyMail.com that neither she nor her legal team had been served the lawsuit yet. They added that her attorney has ‘footage’ and ‘actual evidence’ of the alleged assault.
