Farmer Wants A Wife couple Clare Hockings and Brad Jones are engaged.

The popular lovebirds, who had viewers gushing over their love story in 2023, revealed the happy news on Thursday. 

Brad, 32, got down on one knee and popped the question during an intimate gathering for Clare’s 30th birthday, he told New Idea. 

He said he had planned an outdoor proposal on their farm in Cootamundra, NSW, but bad weather and heavy rain ruined his vision.  

‘It was the worst day ever as far as weather, it was raining sideways, and it happened to be Clare’s birthday, so I really wanted to do it on that day,’ he said.

‘That went out the window when it kept raining most of the day! So I literally did it in our house.’

Brad said he pretended to have knee pain and tricked Clare into their bedroom where he popped the question, with their 21-month-old son Roy looking on.

Clare and Brad first fell in love on the 13th season of FWAW in 2023.

They welcomed their first child together shortly after the show finished airing.

During their brief appearance on this year’s season, the happy couple announced they are now expecting their second child together. 

‘We haven’t had a moment to think about a wedding yet, with baby number two due in the next few weeks,’ Clare told Yahoo Lifestyle this week. 

‘The idea of planning a wedding is quite overwhelming, too, so I think we’ll just enjoy being engaged for a while.’

Clare and Brad first sparked engagement rumours in December 2023. 

At the time, Clare posted a gallery of photos to Instagram of herself and Brad celebrating Christmas with their newborn son Roy, which fans apparently read too much into.

One photo showed the couple posing beside a Christmas tree with their young bub, and another showed a woman’s hand, wearing an engagement ring, holding Roy. 

Fans immediately noticed the diamond ring on the hand and took to the comment section to ask Clare if she had secretly gotten engaged.

However, Clare was quick to quash the rumours.

She clarified it was not her hand in the photo, putting an end to speculation that Brad had popped the question.
