Her millions of Gen Z fans and charismatic online persona made the TikTok sensation, Nella Rose, a dream signing for ITV’s I’m a Celebrity and a sure bet to make it to the final.
Before entering the Jungle, Ms Rose told the Mail: ‘People will understand why I have become successful and why viewers are into what I do just by spending time with me because my job is my personality.’
But the 26-year-old’s appearance on the show could not have gone more differently.
Less than two episodes in and Ms Rose has gone from TikTok sensation, with one million followers, to being declared ‘cancelled’ by her own fanbase following a bizarre outburst at her fellow campmate Fred Sirieix.
On Monday night in the camp the First Dates host, 51, was explaining his eye-sight was bad and lightheartedly joked it was because he was old enough to be her father.

Oh dear: I’m A Celeb’s Nella Rose has been cancelled by her own fans who have vowed to stop watching her content amid outrage over Tuesday night’s Dadgate row with Fred Sireux

Career ending: Concerning for Ms Rose is the loss of support from people on TikTok and YouTube – where she earns most of her money – as she risks leaving to a depleted fanbase
According to Ms Rose, she found the comment ‘disrespectful’ because hours before she had opened up about how her father had died four years earlier.
The following morning she attacked him and said: ‘You turned around to me with an attitude and said, ‘You know I could be your dad, right?’ I don’t care how you said it to me, it’s disrespectful and I don’t want to talk to you. I don’t want to be around you.’
Visibly upset, the Maitre’d said: ‘If I made a faux pas, unwillingly, unconsciously, I am sorry. That’s all it was. I only said that in a way because I am older than you, I am 51 and you’re 26.’
She then fired back that he was ‘little girling’ her and accepted his apology but refused to eat any food he cooked or speak to him for the rest of the time there, ‘We’re not friends,’ she said.
Concerning for Ms Rose is the loss of support from people on TikTok and YouTube – where she earns most of her money – as she risks leaving the Jungle to a depleted primary fanbase.
The platforms have been flooded with videos of fans discussing the feud and most are in support of Mr Sirieix as the tide turns of public favour has turned against Ms Rose.
One person wrote: ‘Congrats Nella, you just ended your career in five minutes by overreacting because he’s old enough to be your dad. Cancelled.’
Another person on the platform wrote: ‘Unsubscribed on YouTube and unfollowed on here. Can’t be bothered with your negativity.’
Others have simply branded her ‘toxic’ while one person commented: ‘Nella’s managed to go from everyone loving her comedic reactions to take to be a spiteful child with no remorse even when Fred apologised.’
Thousands of viewers were left outraged by her reaction and flocked to Twitter calling her ‘childish’ and ‘entitled’ while others declared, ‘Fred for the win’.

Tense scenes: I’m A Celeb viewers urged producers to step in after Nellas ‘unacceptable’ outburst at Fred during Tuesday’s episode

Fuming: The influencer shocked viewers when she lashed out at Fred, 51, for claiming he could ‘be her father’ branding him a ‘weirdo’ and claiming she would not speak to him
Hosts Ant and Dec chimed in on the argument on their Instagram after the live show and said: ‘Poor Fred. She took that out of context didn’t she, it was out of proportion he was just going for a turn of phrase.’
The Maitre’d’s fiancée – known to the public as Fruitcake – wrote to his 900 thousand Instagram followers: ‘Tough watch for some of the show tonight but Fred made us so proud – we know his intention was never to upset anyone – Keep your head up Fred, we love you.’
Yet while she may be struggling to hold onto her TikTok followers, she’s managed to increase her Instagram presence.
After this year’s line-up was revealed on November 10, Nella’s Instagram account has seen an impressive increase in 98,000 followers, taking her up to one million.
This 11 percent increase makes Nella the contestant with the biggest follower increase so far.
In contrast, her sparring partner Fred has also seen an increase in followers, but by a smaller margin. He has gained 29,000 followers, which is just three percent more than at the beginning of the show.
As the youngest star to be in the show this year, it was hoped by ITV bosses that Nella’s vast internet fame would attract millions of young viewers to the reality show.
Renowned as a much-loved content creator she gained success by posting videos to YouTube of her with her friends doing their makeup on camera and discussing topics such as ‘Growing up in an African household’.
She’s accumulated an incredible 750,000 YouTube subscribers with a whopping 81 million views but it appears she has put this success in jeopardy.
The social media star has previously spoken about her tragic past with the devastating loss of both parents plunging her and her older brother into homelessness while she was at university.
Nella, whose full name is Ornella Rose Hollela, previously told her TikTok followers: ‘When you’re an immigrant, have been homeless, lost both parents, family have disowned you, constantly body shamed but God continues to bless you.’
She has opened up on the trauma of her mother Eseho Omolongo’s sudden death in 2016, revealing she died in her arms and describing it as the worst thing that has ever happened to her.
And further tragedy hit Nella when four years later in 2020, her father Kamango Paul Hollela also passed away – leading her to pen an emotional tribute where she spoke of his suffering and pledged to make him the ‘proudest dad’.
Nella, of Congolese descent, arrived in the UK from Belgium at the age of seven with her mother and older brother Albert.
Set on losing her thick French accent, the I’m A Celebrity contestant would watch videos of Ant and Dec while growing up in north-west London to adopt a British accent.
After her mother died unexpectedly in 2016, the council took back the family home from the teenager and her brother, leaving Nella to live at her accommodation in Leicester University or with friends.

Heartbreaking: Nella’s father Kamango Paul Hollela died tragically in 2020, four years after her mother died in her arms
Nella’s father Kamango Paul Hollela then also tragically died four years after her mother. After his death, she penned a poignant Instagram post to him saying: ‘Rest in Peace Daddy.
‘Watching you suffer for the past month has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life but at least you’re not in pain anymore.
‘Gonna make you the proudest dad ever in the years to come because I know you’re still by side every step of the way.’
I’m A Celebrity airs daily at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX
