Fans slam Married At First Sight’s Paul Antoine after saying bride Carina Mirabile gives him the ‘ick’ only a WEEK after his violent outburst: ‘Toxic masculinity at its finest’

Married At First Sight fans are raging after groom Paul Antoine threw his wife Carina Mirabile ‘under the bus’ only a week after he got violent and punched a wall. 

The FIFO worker, 31, told fellow MAFS participant Awhina Rutene during the couple swap on Monday that Carina, 31, was ‘a snob’, ‘judgy’ and gave him the ‘ick’.

He went on to say that when he told Carina about his former relationship with Awhina’s sister, Cleo, she had been judgemental about his romantic past, allegedly telling him: ‘I didn’t know you would go for that kind of calibre.’

However, fans were not impressed with Paul’s harsh words about his wife, especially considering the groom punched a door the week before during a heated argument with Carina, who stood by him despite the violent incident.

‘Damn Paul is a rat, tf he telling Awhina that for,’ one person wrote, while another chimed in: ‘Everything that comes out of Paul’s mouth is negated by the fact he punched a wall.’

One angry fan commented: ‘Who needs an enemy when your husband can throw you under the bus. Paul fumbled, good for Awhina though at least she knows Carina isn’t her friend.’

Another person quipped, ‘Carina: I’m so scared that you will do something with Awhina. Paul: Betrays Carina to Awhina.’

‘Paul is a big red flag!’ one fan wrote, adding: ‘Jealousy would push him away? Yet Carina has stood by him when his jealousy turned volatile??!! 

‘Does he hear himself right now? Toxic masculinity at its finest!!!’

One person hilariously wrote: ‘Paul, don’t even talk to us about getting the ick,’ adding: ‘There’s no bigger ick than a grown man being unable to regulate his emotions or take accountability for his actions.’  

‘The more Paul can cause drama between the girls, the less attention we have on him,’ one fan pointed out. 

Another fan wrote: ‘Paul really is making more b*tchy drama to take even more heat off him.’

Carina broke down in tears on Monday night when she was told Awhina would be moving in with Paul during partner swap week.

The bride sobbed and said she was ‘uncomfortable’ with her husband sleeping in the same bed as Awhina after he briefly dated her twin sister Cleo two years ago.

She claimed the partner swap, which sees each contestant swap their betrothed with someone else for three days, was ‘like a form of cheating’ and she didn’t want to take part in it. 

‘I don’t like that. No, I don’t want to do that. Why Awhina out of all the girls?’ Carina told Paul when they learned of the new challenge.

‘You’ve already slept with her sister now you’re going to sleep in the same bed as her.’  

Later on, once Awhina had moved into Paul’s apartment, he confessed to her that ‘there are a few things that have been bothering’ him in his relationship with Carina. 

‘I feel like she is a bit of a snob sometimes and can come across as very judgy, and I’ll be honest with you, this is giving me the ick,’ he said in a shock moment.

‘When I told Carina the reason why I knew you [Awhina], she made a comment about Cleo that gave me the ick. She said, ‘I didn’t know you would go for that kind of calibre.”

Stunned by the confession, Awhina asked: ‘Is this because my sister is covered in tattoos?’

‘Yeah. That’s something that really gives me the ick because that’s not who I am,’ Paul said.

Paul told Carina a few weeks ago of his sexual history with Awhina’s identical twin sister. Awhina and Cleo are pictured 

‘I’m not going to judge someone because they have tattoos or because of where they’re from.’ 

He went on to say: ‘Because of all these little comments that she’s made here and there, I have a feeling we may not be as compatible as we think we are. 

‘I’m not going to lie, I’m quite scared of how she’s going to react if I ever bring those things up. 

‘Is she going to feel attacked, is she going to deflect or lose her s*** or start crying?’
