Marlon Wayans’ touching response to the recent news of Lupita Nyong’o’s split with Selema Masekela has been hailed by fans as ‘sweet’ and ‘sincere.’ 

The Don’t Be A Menace star, 51, took to Instagram to issue heartfelt advice to Lupita, 40, who voiced her heartache in an emotional statement shared to confirm her split from partner Selema Masekela on Thursday.

The heartbreaking prose detailed her vast pain and determination to ‘run into the shadows’ in the wake of the break-up which came just hours before she was spotted putting on a cosy display with newly-single Joshua Jackson.

In the post, she wrote about the break-up and revealed she was in a ‘season of heartbreak’ due to ‘deception’ by an unnamed loved one.

Actor Marlon, who has starred in hit comedies such as White Chicks and the Scary Movie franchise, sent some words of comfort to the Black Panther star in a comment below her post.

The comment amassed almost 9,500 likes, with Wayans writing: ‘Trust God. He wants better for you. All lessons are blessings especially the painful ones. This too shall pass. Warmest of hugs.’

He added: ‘Be kind to you as you heal. I always say whenever I have a break up “lucky me, i get to love ME again. I missed you me.” Go love on you woman.’

As well as supporting the actor’s ‘wise’ words in hundreds of comments on Instagram below his own, fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to discuss Wayans’ message. 

Reposting the comment in a screenshot, X account @c0cosays wrote: ‘Marlon’s advice to Lupita is probably the best thing I’ve ever seen because you really do get to love “you” again.’

A number of fans shared the same reaction with the person behind the account, with one writing in response to Marlon’s message, ‘Beautifully written,’ while another said: ‘So beautiful.’

One person commended the Wayans’ outlook on Nyong’o’s situation, writing: ‘This is such a good perspective to have.’ 

A fellow fan wrote, ‘That was some great wisdom,’ while another said, ‘The sweetest thing ever.’ 

One fan was left teary eyed by the actor’s penned advice, writing: ‘I’m not joking y’all, this had tears welling up. The purity of this felt like a warm hug and a cup of tea all wrapped in one.’

Lupita had been in a relationship with TV host and sports commentator Selema, 52, since 2022. 

In December Lupita shared a video on social media revealing her relationship with Selema, as they dressed in several different outfits.

The video was set to the song The King’s Affirmation – Chill Mix featuring Reuel Williams and featured the couple snapping along while changing into various outfits.

The star posted the video to her Instagram and captioned it: ‘We just click! @selema #thisismylove #nuffsaid.’ 

Selema is a sports reporter and the co-founder of the surf apparel company Mami Wata.

In exclusive photos, Joshua, who shares daughter Juno Rose Diana, three, with estranged wife Jodie Turner-Smith, 37, was seen looking close with Oscar-winner Lupita at a Janelle Monae gig in LA on Wednesday.

Joshua and Lupita were seen gazing into each other’s eyes and sharing a joke as they took in the star’s The Age of Pleasure show in Inglewood from their seats.

Joshua looked dapper in a white tee and black jacket while Lupita flashed her cleavage in a plunging black top and patterned blazer.

Lupita was also seen sharing a hug with pals and introducing Joshua to them.
