Fans Go Wild as Paul Hollywood Teases Deadpool Special of Bake Off with Ryan Reynolds and Co.

Paul Hollywood has sent fans wild with excitement after he teased a special movie star special of Bake Off, by sharing a throwback snap with Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively and Hugh Jackman.

The celebrity baker, 58, took to his Instagram on Monday to post a photo of the three actors posing with him in the iconic Bake Off tent. 

Appearing to have arrived on the set of the beloved show amid filming for Deadpool & Wolverine, Ryan, 47, and Hugh, 55, could both be seen in costume for the movie.

Ryan sported the famous red Deadpool suit, while Hugh donned a shirt and bow tie as well as an eyepatch and wore his hair in the signature Wolverine style.

Meanwhile, Ryan’s wife Blake, 36, looked radiant in a black and white polka dot dress as she beamed for the camera.

While the photo appeared to have been taken last summer during the production of the third Deadpool flick, Paul riled up his followers by suggesting the movie stars would be taking part in an actual Bake Off episode.

He captioned the snap: ‘Welcome to the tent, @blakelively @vancityreynolds @thehughjackman …. Next time you need to bake !’

Hugh took to the comments to reference Paul’s highly sought-after handshakes of approval, as he quipped: ‘Let’s pretend we got a handshake!!!’

Fans immediately flooded the comments section with praise for the unexpected crossover and demanded the A-list trio appear on Bake Off special.

They wrote: ‘Oh I thought this was going to be a baking special – that would have been AMAZING; Whaaaaaaaaaaat? Omg please tell me this is happening?!’

‘This new Ryan Reynolds x Paul Hollywood bromance is the best thing about 2024 so far; The crossover we’ve never knew we needed!’

‘When Hollywood met Hollywood; Did Wolverine get a handshake?; WAIT!!!… this would’ve been the best celeb bake off ever!!! ♥️’.

Last month, Paul shared a version of the photo, cropped to just show him and Ryan to promote the star’s new Deadpool film.

In the self-deprecating caption he wrote:  ‘Yea he’s tall and I’m not ! @vancityreynolds but looking forward to seeing the new Deadpool movie…’

The snap prompted his followers to beg for the unlikely duo to star in a film together, writing: ‘This is the movie we need right now’ and ‘Can we please get a spin-off called Breadpool?’

Blake and Ryan rocked up at the Bake Off set in June last year, and shared a number of snaps at the time with Paul and his fellow judge Prue Leith. 

One snap saw Blake cosying up to Paul, as he joked that she should replace Prue as a judge on the show, writing: ‘Sorry Prue, Blake (@blakelively) has taken your seat… welcome to cake corner Blake #legendinthetent #getbaking’.

While other photos saw Ryan cutting a stylish figure in a lime green shirt and dark trousers as he wrapped his arms around a delighted Paul and Prue.

The self-confessed Bake Off fan captioned the sweet snap: ‘A full and unconditional hug of pure serotonin’.

Explaining how the unexpected crossover had taken place, Paul previously explained that movie stars frequently made surprising visits to the tent.

The US version of The Great British Bake Off, called the Great American Baking Show, is filmed at Pinewood studios in Iver Heath, where a host of huge films are also shot – including Deadpool & Wolverine.

Speaking to Closer, Paul said: ‘Film stars wander onto our set. Ryan Reynolds walked onto our set as Deadpool. We had a good laugh about it.’

He recalled: ‘In fact, Wolverine was there as well – we had Hugh Jackman.’

Ryan and Blake have long made their love of Bake Off clear, and Prue previously revealed: ‘Because we were there at the same time as they were, you know, weeks on end, we got really friendly. So they came in a lot.’ 

She added to E! News: ‘Blake is absolutely nuts about [the show] — well they both are’.

Ryan previously revealed to People how he and Blake enjoy nothing more than unwinding in front of the Channel 4 cooking show.

He said: ‘We live in a world that’s pretty divisive right now and there’s a lot going on. And I like that show just because it’s a nice thing to watch at night,’ 

‘Everybody on the show is nice to each other, which I find refreshing. It’s not really about anything that’s going to remind you of chaos.’

And Blake even enlisted Paul’s help to flog her alcoholic drinks brand last year, as she made him the the face of Betty Booze.

In August, the actress roped the TV chef into an advert for the brand, as she joked that she had ‘finally made it in Hollywood’.

The skit saw Blake arriving at Paul’s house carrying boxes of her cocktail cans, desperate to get his approval on her product.

While an amusing moment saw her face light up as Paul leant towards her with his hand outstretched, as she thought she would get a rare handshake, only for Paul to reach past her to grab another drink, leaving her red-faced.

Speaking about the unexpected collaboration last year, a source close to Blake explained that Paul was part of her and Ryan’s great British takeover.

They said: ‘Paul is quintessentially British, and Blake and Ryan are immersing themselves in all things to do with the UK.

‘They think that Paul is great and with his big following Blake thinks that he will sell a lot of her product. It’s all very random but she wanted a Brit on board so she turned to Paul.

‘They have all become really good friends and Paul is looking forward to going to watch Wrexham play next season.’
