Fans Furious Hulk Hogan Excluded from Emmys In Memoriam After His Death at 71

Hulk Hogan fans were furious that he was left out of in memoriam at Emmys.

Hogan died in July, aged 71, from a heart attack.

Viewers were quick to post on social media about the snubs, with one penning on X: ‘Hulk Hogan got snubbed at the Emmys memoriam.’

‘No mention of Hulk Hogan during the In Memoriam segment at the Emmys. Disgraceful. Brother was on TV for 40 years!’ wrote a Hogan fan.

Also left out was Parks And Recreation actor Jonathan Joss. Joss was 59 when he was fatally shot in Texas in June after a disagreement with a neighbor.  

‘So the Emmys just left out Jonathan Joss for the In Memoriam??? Disrespectful and cruel,’ wrote a fan.

Instead, Ozzy Osbourne, Maggie Smith, and Michelle Trachtenberg were among the stars remembered.

Vince Gill and Lainey Wilson performed the emotional track Go Rest High on That Mountain as pictures of people who had died were shown on the large screen.

Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy passed away on July 22 at age 76, and was laid to rest on the grounds of his mansion in Buckinghamshire, England. 

Legendary actress Maggie, known for her roles in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, passed away in hospital last year aged 89.

Gossip Girl star Michelle is said to have died due to complications from diabetes mellitus, according to a statement from the New York City’s Office of Chief Medical Examiner.

Among the other entertainers who were honored in the somber segment included Quincy Jones, Loni Anderson, John Amos, Alan Bergman, Valerie Mahaffey, Julian McMahon, David Lynch, and George Wendt.

Elsewhere, Phylicia Rashad paid memorial at Sunday’s 77th Primetime Emmy Awards to her late costar on The Cosby Show, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, following to his tragic death via drowning at 54 on July 20 in Costa Rica.

‘He was a beloved teenager in an iconic television series with the world watched grow into man,’ Rashad said from the Peacock Theatre at LA Live in Los Angeles.

Rashad, 77, added, ‘And like all our friends and colleagues who transitioned this past year, Malcolm-Jamal Warner remains in our hearts.

‘Tonight, as is tradition at the Emmys, we remember them not just with their immense talent, but also for the way they’ve made us believe in something bigger – the best that is within us.’

Rashad, who portrayed the role of family matriarch Clair Huxtable on the 80s TV mainstay, spoke about the entertainers who had died in the past year.

‘Even though they may no longer be here with us, we can all smile, knowing that their impact will remain, knowing that their lasting impressions will continue to live on from story, knowing that they touched our lives,’ Rashad said.

The six-time Emmy nominee added, ‘Whether you grew up watching them, or have just now discovered their brilliance, their light remains in the very fabric of our industry.’

Warner and his eight-year-old daughter had been ensnared in a rip current at Playa Cocles in the Limon province, officials said.

Officials with the Judicial Investigation Department in Costa Rica said that the actor died after he drowned while on a Caribbean beach.

Warner’s death was ruled as ‘asphyxia due to submersion,’ and accidental, Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Agency confirmed.

Meanwhile, the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was not mentioned during Sunday night’s Primetime Emmy Awards broadcast.

None of the celebrities in attendance at the Peacock Theater mentioned the September 10 murder of the Republican activist while he was speaking on a Utah college campus.

While Kirk’s death was too hot a topic for Hollywood, other stars didn’t hesitate to express their opinions on other hot button political issues.

Hacks star Hannah Einbinder, 30, after winning the honors for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, ended her speech saying, ‘Finally, go birds, f**k ICE and free Palestine – thank you!’

Javier Bardem was among the Hollywood stars to get political on the red carpet Sunday, referring to a pledge more than 1,800 entertainment industry workers have taken to boycott working with Israeli film companies.

The Oscar-winning actor, 56, urged those watching to support the ‘Free Palestine ‘ movement in an interview with Variety, after the pledge was put together earlier this month, just ahead of the two-year anniversary of Hamas invading an Israeli music festival.

Comic Megan Stalter, 35, had the phrase ‘Cease Fire!’ written on her purse on the red carpet.

‘It’s the most important to stick up for people and for peace.’ Stalter told Variety of the political statement. ‘ We have to use our platforms.

She posed the question: ‘What’s the point of being at these big events if you’re not going to use your privilege?’

Another sharp political reference came after Last Week Tonight with John Oliver claimed the honors for Best Writing for a Variety Series.

Oliver senior writer Daniel O’Brien said in the acceptance speech: ‘We share this category – we are honored to share it with all writers of late night political comedy while that is still a type of show that’s allowed to exist.’

The remarks came months after the controversial firing of Stephen Colbert from his CBS late night show this past summer, with some saying the left-leaning host was a bargaining chip to appease President Donald Trump amid CBS and Paramount’s $8-billion merger.
