A preview for the upcoming seventh season of the animated comedy series Rick and Morty was released by Adult Swim last week, giving viewers a look at the series after co-creator Justin was replaced.
‘We want the show to speak for itself,’ an Adult Swim insider said in a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
‘We believe in the strength of the season and our new voices and we want to preserve the viewing experience for fans.’
Roiland and Dan Harmon created the animated sci-fi sitcom about a mad scientist and his grandson, both voiced by Roiland. It has aired for six seasons on Cartoon Network as part of its Adult Swim nighttime programming block.
Adult Swim and Cartoon Network cut ties with Roiland in January when felony domestic abuse charges against him (which were cleared in March) were reported, and said his roles would be recast.
The companies 20th TV Animation and Hulu Originals, which produce two other animated series Roiland worked on, did the same.
Following Roiland’s ouster, Adult Swim had been on a search for actors who could replicate the voices of Rick and Morty. Dan Stevens has been cast for a principal voice role in the Hulu animated show Solar Opposites, which Roiland also had worked on.

Adult Swim said in a description of the forthcoming series, ‘Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever! It’s season seven, and the possibilities are endless: what’s up with Jerry? EVIL Summer?!
‘And will they ever go back to the high school?! Maybe not! But let’s find out! There’s probably less p*ss than last season. Rick and Morty, 100 years! Or at least until season 10!’
The series, which has won two Emmys and is nominated for another one, had more than 19 million viewers on linear broadcast in 2022, according to Adult Swim.
The new 10-season episode is slated to air October 15 at 11/10c.
In March, prosecutors in Orange County, California dropped domestic violence charges against Roiland.
Orange County district attorney´s spokeswoman Kimberly Edds said the two felony counts involving a former girlfriend were dropped ‘due to a lack of sufficient evidence beyond a reasonable doubt.’
Roiland responded to the dismissal on Twitter at the time.
Roiland responded to the dismissal of criminal charges against him on Twitter in March
‘I have always known that these claims were false – and I never had any doubt that this day would come,’ he said. ‘I’m thankful that this case has been dismissed but, at the same time, I’m still deeply shaken by the horrible lies that were reported about me during this process.’
He added that he is ‘disappointed that so many people were so quick to judge without knowing the facts, based solely on the word of a bitter ex trying to bypass due process and have me `canceled.´’
In his tweet, Roiland said he is ‘determined to move forward and focus both on my creative projects and restoring my good name.’
Roiland had been awaiting trial on charges of corporal injury and false imprisonment by menace, fraud, violence or deceit against the woman, who he was living with at the time. She was not identified in court documents.
The charges dated to May of 2020, but they apparently went unnoticed by media outlets until NBC News reported on them in January of this year.
