Fans cringe at Gwyneth Paltrow’s awkward Timothée Chalamet question.

Gwyneth Paltrow confessed she was completely unaware of her Marty Supreme costar Timothée Chalamet’s high-profile romance with Kylie Jenner.

Although the pair have been dating for more than two years, the Oscar winner, 53, admitted she had ‘no idea’ about his relationship with one of the most influential Gen Z stars.

‘Everyone makes fun of me because I don’t know anything,’ the actress told British Vogue. ‘I was like, “Do you have a girlfriend?” And he was like, “I do.” He mentioned that she had kids and I was like, “That’s so cool. I really love to hear that from a young man like you.”‘

She went on to explain, ‘I understand a 45-year-old who has his own kids going out with a woman with kids, but it’s a cool choice to go out with a young woman who has two kids.’

While reflecting on the revelation, Paltrow humorously added, ‘I respect it. I think it’s kind of punk rock. But my point is, I didn’t know it was Kylie Jenner.’

Social media users were perplexed that the mother-of-two, who is married to Brad Falchuk, ‘didn’t know’ Chalamet was dating the makeup mogul, 28. 

‘She’s living in a cave,’ one scoffed while another wrote on X that it was ‘super cute’ that ‘Gwyneth only found out later that it’s Kylie.’  

Although she stays out of the loop on celebrity news, the Goop founder joked about her friends’ reactions to the viral paparazzi photos of her and Chalamet, 29, making out on set. 

‘Oh my God, all of my mom group chats were on fire,’ she said, with a laugh. ‘Everyone was like, “Yes, GP, get it!” I’m like, “Guys, calm down.”‘

Fans went wild in October 2024 when Paltrow and Chalamet, who is 24 years her junior, were spotted filming Marty Supreme in New York City’s Central Park.

At one point, they were seen kissing as he held her face and pushed her against a wall.

Marty Supreme stars Chalamet as aspiring competitive table tennis player Marty Mauser, and Paltrow plays actress named Kay Stone.

In March, Paltrow candidly discussed hooking up on-screen with her 21-year-old daughter Apple Martin’s celebrity crush.

‘I mean, we have a lot of sex in this movie. There’s a lot — a lot,’ she told Vanity Fair.

The star also noted that she did not know the position of intimacy coordinator existed as she had never worked with one before. 

‘I was like, “Girl, I’m from the era where you get naked, you get in bed, the camera’s on,”‘ Paltrow recalled telling the intimacy coordinator when asked if she would be comfortable with some physicality. 

Eventually, she said she told the intimacy coordinator that they could ‘step a little bit back.’

‘I don’t know how it is for kids who are starting out, but … if someone is like, “Okay, and then he’s going to put his hand here” … I would feel, as an artist, very stifled by that,’ she explained.

The actress’ return to the big screen after a five year hiatus was reportedly inspired by her daughter Apple, who had a ‘crush’ on Chalamet.

‘Gwyneth signed on to co-star with Timothee in Marty Supreme thanks to her daughter, who has had a crush on the Dune star for years,’ an insider told DailyMail.com exclusively in October.

Despite having no ‘major wish’ to act, Paltrow was reportedly ‘convinced’ to say yes to the offer after her daughter Apple learned that Chalamet is not only producing, but also playing the lead. 

As soon as Paltrow told Apple that Chalamet is not only a producer but also the lead actor, she pleaded with her mom to accept.’ 

‘After reading it and loving it, despite having no major wish to act right now, she was convinced by Apple, who intends to be on set as much as possible.’ 

During her interview with Vanity Fair, Paltrow described Chalamet as ‘such a thinking man’s sex symbol’ and ‘a very polite, properly raised’ kid.

‘He’s a man who takes his work really seriously and is a fun partner,’ she said. 

Marty Supreme, directed by Josh Safdie, is set for release on December 25.
