The Internet had a thing or two to say about Jennifer Hudson’s tribute to Cher during the iHeartRadio Awards last night.
Hudson, 42, performed Cher’s legendary track Believe alongside the musical icon and belted the ending of the track in dramatic fashion.
Cher held Hudson’s hand as they brought the song to a close and watched in delight as Jennifer finished off the track with a flourish.
Hudson’s showstopping ending, however, did not go unnoticed by fans online, with one joking the actress was attempting to steal Cher’s thunder.
‘Jennifer Hudson trying to steal Cher’s thunder on stage lol,’ one remarked on X.

‘Jennifer Hudson did not have to run circles around Cher like that,’ another tweeted.

‘Now why did Jennifer Hudson out sing Cher during her own tribute,’ one fan posted.
‘Why is Jennifer Hudson screaming,’ another tweeted. ‘I love her but down baby this is a cher song.’
‘Now why did Jennifer Hudson just do that?’ another asked.
‘Y’all… I need to say something… Jennifer Hudson embarrassed herself during that Cher tribute.’
The tribute started with Hudson first singing If I Could Turn Back Time before she was joined on stage by Cher for Believe.
Cher was presented with the Icon Award at this year’s awards show.
iHeart is ‘honoring her unparalleled contributions to music and pop culture for over seven decades,’ said a press release shared ahead of Monday’s event.

Looking back on her long career during her acceptance speech, Cher said she is ‘lucky to have people that have stayed with me all these years.’
The icon also noted to the audience, ‘most of you weren’t born’ at the start of her ascent to fame.
‘I don’t usually talk about it, but I have been down and out so many times you could not believe it,’ she went on to reveal.
‘Dropped by record companies, couldn’t get a job… they said, “Oh, she’s so over.” But I never gave up my dream,’ the star said, per Billboard.
