Fans are left disappointed as Channel 4 cancels another popular prison drama after just two seasons: “I’m devastated, I loved that show!”

Fans were left ‘gutted’ after learning Channel 4 has axed Screw after airing just two seasons.

Ben Tavassoli – who played the role of Louis Costa in the prison drama show – shared the sad news as he took to his Instagram.

Sharing a promotional still picture of the series, he wrote candidly: ‘Unfortunate news that this is where our journey ends for Screw. want to thank you guys so much for tuning in. 

‘All your kind words went a long way. love everyone who was part of the show, very lucky to have made dear friends for life.’

The series debuted in January 2020, and looked inside the life stories of staff members at Long Marsh, a male prison in Great Britain.

Fellow actor Luke Pasqualino – known for his iconic role as Freddie McClair and more recently in Netflix show Shadow and Bone – showed his support and wrote: ‘Luke Pasqualino Smashed it brev!’

More fans flooded his post with comments, with many devastated and hoping for a third series instead.

A fan penned: ‘Gutted,’ while another echoed: ‘That’s sad. I loved the show.’

‘So so goood to see you the other night. Sad about this but onwards. You’re a star xx,’ gushed another user.

Another person shared their disappointment, hoping there would be another season: ‘Ahhh no , really thought there would have been another season , pity , but was brilliant.’
