Pregnant Emily Atack has revealed how pregnancy has changed her priorities ahead of welcoming her first child with scientist boyfriend Alistair Garner.
The actress, 34, said her ‘body was now a temple’ after friends worried in the past she had not been looking after herself, during an appearance on Friday’s Loose Women.
She revealed to the panel how excited she was to welcome her baby – which she has confirmed is a boy – and said that she felt ‘extremely connected’ to her body now more than ever.
‘I used to get told off by my friends for not looking after myself enough and staying up too late and all of that and now I’m like, ‘No, my body is a vessel”.
Before adding: ‘It’s so important that I get an early night and I’m really looking after myself’.

Emily proudly announced the happy news on Instagram at the beginning of January, with a snap of her blossoming bump, saying she was ‘over the moon’.
But her road to motherhood has not been an easy one and said she’s suffered from ‘every single symptom’.
Laughing: I’m waiting for this glow up. I’ve had a blow up, not a glow up! Everyone’s saying ‘Oh you’re going to be in your glow up era, you’ll be in the gym doing pilates’ [but] I’m like a hen sitting on an egg! I haven’t moved’.
Before concluding: ‘No, it’s incredible, it’s amazing and I’m so excited’.
She went on to say how ‘liberating’ she felt since falling pregnant and claimed it’s now changed the way she thought about her body.
‘[Women are] self-conscious walking to the shops sometimes you know. I’ve just let all those things go, I’m eating the things I want to eat, I’m not worrying about my weight. I spend my life worrying about my weight, I do.’
Emily also spoke about being criticised by cruel trolls for cradling her baby bump and revealed she’d been flawed by the backlash.
‘I’ve been criticised for a lot of things but I naively thought that being pregnant would kind of protect me from online abuse in some way’.

‘It really doesn’t, people will find something and yeah, people were writing “You think you’re so superior to everyone else, constantly touching your bump”. I thought, what world are we living in? You know, I’m a younger woman, it’s my first baby, I’m so excited and it’s a little baby!’.
Earlier this week Emily revealed she was having a boy during an appearance on BBC Breakfast to discuss the campaign to introduce affirmative consent in relationships.
The actress explained how she wanted to bring about a change to sex consent laws for both men and women.
She then admitted that while she didn’t plan on revealing anything, she confirmed that she was expecting a boy as she opened up on her hopes for his future being improved by the campaign.

Emily said: ‘I’m six months [pregnant] and I wasn’t going to say this, but I am going to say this – I’m having a boy.’
She added: ‘So I want him to be a part of a really positive change and I want him to grow up knowing he can talk about these things openly and enjoy his life. I want him to be on the right side of history.’
Emily is backing a campaign by Right To Equality, to tighten the laws around sexual consent.
Affirmative consent means ‘anything less than a clear, uncoerced, and informed confirmation of consent like “yes” cannot qualify as consent in the eyes of the law.’
This means consent has to be clear communication of willingness, rather that the absence of a ‘no’, and can be withdrawn at any time and not be gained by threats, force or coercion.
It is hoped that the change will mean there is less onus on the victim to prove they did not consent, than on the accused, and increase the shockingly low rape conviction numbers in the UK – which was only 2 per cent from 2021 to 2022.
