The season of goodwill has heralded a miracle in the household of Ewan McGregor. In a turn of events that would seem unlikely even in one of the star’s most far-fetched films, his two wives have spent Christmas together.
I can reveal the force of forgiveness was so powerful with the Star Wars actor’s first wife, Eve Mavrakis, that she agreed to spend Yuletide with his current spouse, Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
The trio were joined by their four daughters including Clara, a 27-year-old actress who described Winstead as a ‘piece of trash’ when she was pictured kissing her father in a London restaurant in 2017 while he was still married to her mother. Clara added at the time that her father was an ‘a*******’.
She later apologised for her remarks about Winstead, 39, who married the Scottish actor, 52, last year, admitting it hadn’t been her ‘finest hour’. To prove relations are much better now, Clara shared a photograph of the extended family together online. They are joined by her sister, Esther, 22.
Also at the get-together at McGregor’s home in Los Angeles was Laurie, his two-year-old son with Winstead, and his two other children from his first marriage, Jamyan, 22, and Anouk, 12.

The healing of the rift will certainly be welcomed by McGregor, whose divorce from Eve was finalised in 2020. Meanwhile, Eve previously said of her marriage break-up: ‘It’s disappointing and upsetting, but my main concern is our four children are OK.’ It is unclear if Eve is still going out with the Hollywood film composer Jonathan Elias, 67.
Elias, who collaborated with the likes of Sting and Sinead O’Connor on his most recent album, met Eve six years ago through a mutual pal. She confirmed their romance to me after they enjoyed a ‘magical’ holiday in Lake Como, Italy in 2021.
