Euphoria Star Unrecognizable with Thinner Frame Amid Ozempic Rumors

Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira looked nearly unrecognizable as she flaunted her slimmed-down figure as she attended the star-studded Academy Women’s Luncheon in L.A. on Tuesday. 

The 28-year-old actress – who recently walked the runway for the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show – flashed a cheerful smile as she showed off her radiant look on the red carpet following her 50lb weight loss. 

The media personality first began giving a glimpse of her thinner frame last year – initially sparking Ozempic speculation among social media users. 

Ferreira turned heads wearing a pink ruched dress with a plunging neckline as well as ruffled details along the short sleeves and bottom hem. 

She slipped into a pair of open-toed, black pumps and accessorized the look with dangly earrings. 

The star’s darker locks were parted in the middle and effortlessly flowed down past her shoulders in light waves. 

Ferreira’s makeup was glammed up and comprised of a layer of mascara to her lashes as well as a light shadow around her eyes. 

A pink blush was added to her cheekbones while a dark pink, glossy tint was worn on her lips for a finishing touch. 

The actress was seen showcasing her outfit for the glitzy event as she posed for a brief photo session at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures where the festivities took place. 

Other celebrities that made an appearance at the luncheon included Kristen Stewart, Kate Hudson, Alicia Silverstone and Sarah Paulson. 

Ferreira started flaunting her dramatic weight loss last year – causing some fans to speculate she took Ozempic, which the actress has yet to address. 

Back in 2020, the star told Elle that she enjoys doing Pilates ‘a few times a week.’ 

She also added at the time, ‘I’ve started seeing a personal trainer, which has been more challenging, but I guess that’s the point.’ 

Last year, a source told the Daily Mail: ‘Since she quit Euphoria, the opportunities have been drying up for Barbie and she knew that a reinvention was necessary to maintain longevity. 

‘In order to get roles in Hollywood, you’ve got to look the part and as shallow as that sounds, it is, unfortunately, true.’ 

The insider added, ‘She lost the weight to revitalize her career and better highlight her talents. She has such a strong drive to succeed in the industry and is incredibly talented.

‘Doing this spread and showing off her new body was a way of saying, “Hey this is me now and I am ready to work.”

‘She wants to be able to play sexy parts too and will do what it takes to succeed. Ozempic can offer a really easy way to achieve this.’

A separate source also told the Daily Mail, ‘She actually wasn’t in Euphoria that much, but the time she was on set it was clear that her image was important to her.

‘Whether she did Ozempic or lost weight by other means, she is loving all the attention from it. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if it was Ozempic though.’

And last month in October, Ferreira wowed as she strutted on the catwalk during the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

She donned a red bralette top as well as matching bottoms while layering with an unbuttoned denim jacket that had small wings attached to the back.  

She also opted for pair of closed-toed, denim heels as well as white and red-striped ankle socks. 

Ferreira gushed about the opportunity to walk on the iconic runway and revealed to People that she had been ‘psyched’ upon learning she was cast in the show. 

‘That was just not in my head at all to walk a runway, period, especially the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which is the biggest show. I just remember being like, “What?”‘ 

The actress added, ‘It took me a minute to process what that meant, because I just was not expecting that at all. And then I got so excited. I called my mom, who’s Brazilian, and could not be more excited.’

Ferreira gained recognition as a teenager for her posts on Tumblr, and also modeled for brands such as American Apparel, H&M and Target. 

She later took on the role of Kat in the HBO series Euphoria – but back in 2022, Ferreira announced her exit from the show. 

At the time, she shared on Instagram, ‘After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary eyed goodbye.

‘I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez.’

She has since moved on to other projects such as the 2023 movie House Of Spoils alongside Ariana DeBose. 

Ferreira also took on a leading role in the indie rom-com Mile End Kicks – which Sumerian Pictures recently picked up the U.S. rights to, per Deadline. 

The movie is set to be released nationwide – although an official date has yet to be announced. 

Mile End Kicks screened at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival in September and received critical praise. The project currently has a critical score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. 

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ferreira reflected on her time on Euphoria at the start of her acting career. 

‘It informed everything. It was my first job and so I learned so much about myself, who I am as an actor and what I want to do. It was so fun and weird to be on a show that just blows up.’

She added, ‘All of a sudden, you’re 22 and, like, what? I had no idea what to do. It was a really great crash course with the whole aspect of people watching your show and coming up to you. In that aspect, it was very jarring for me. 

‘Now I feel free in a way where I get to really do what I want, and I get to produce stuff that I like and be in these stories that I probably wouldn’t have had time for if I were on the show. It’s been really great.’
