Essendon captain Dyson Heppell has married his long-time partner Kate Turner in a weekend ceremony described as ‘pure magic’.
The AFL star, 30, and his bride exchanged vows at Barunah Plains on Saturday, surrounded by their family and friends.
The heritage-listed homestead is a working merino sheep station set on 640 acres of farmland in Victoria, where the couple set up glamping bell tents for their guests.
The wedding party kicked off the celebrations on Friday in denim and T-shirts, creating a relaxed atmosphere wit poolside drinks ahead of the big day.
Dyson, the former Bombers captain who retired last year after 253 games with the club, had many former teammates in attendance including Darcy Parish, Sam Draper, Sam Durham and Ben Hobbs.
His close friend, brave Harrison Pennicott, known as H-Man, who is battling a rare skin and auto-immune disease called scleroderma, was the couple’s ring bearer.

Kate stunned in an off-the-shoulder white gown by Marquise Atelier.
The classic dress featured a thigh-split and lace sleeves, which she paired with white stilettos and her blonde hair piled into an up do, accented with a lace veil.
Her bridesmaids wore black silk gowns, in all different styles, with Kate writing, ‘How stunning are they. Extremely grateful for each of them. They made the whole weekend so much better.’
Guests showered the newlyweds with white rose petals, and putting their own twist on the classic champagne tower, Dyson and Kate shook up cocktails for a margarita tower instead.
Dyson, who proposed to her at Oaks beach in 2022, wore a traditional black tie suit and then changed into a white suit jacket for the rowdy reception.
Meanwhile, Kate changed into a corset bubble dress and was pictured sculling from a beer bottle on top of her husband’s shoulders, with her hair pulled loose from its up do.
The happy couple ended their first dance with Dyson picking Kate up by the waist, and everyone cheering as she wrapped her legs around his waist and was carried off the dance floor.
Rather than Kate taking Dyson’s surname, the couple have chosen to hyphenate to the Turner-Heppells.

The newlyweds were pictured crowd surfing over their guests, dancing on the tables, leading singalongs, and being carried on shoulders in a display of unadulterated joy

Their dream day has been two years in the making, since Dyson dropped to one knee in a romantic beachside proposal.
‘Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day and couldn’t ask for a more perfect fiancé to spend the rest of my life with,’ he captioned an engagement announcement post, tagging his future wife.
Kate meanwhile wrote: ‘Yesterday morning Dyso asked me if I’d spend the rest of my life with him. It’s always been a yes, but now he’s officially stuck with me.’
