Hewitt penned a candid essay for Elle that was published on Wednesday where she discussed the 'mini war within my body and my mind' that she faces over the guilt of choosing formula.
She additionally explained how it still was the best decision for her and shed light on having 'less moral hierarchy' when it comes to not breastfeeding.
'I was aware, even before pregnancy, of the quiet shame attached to formula feeding,' Hewitt - who has been - said in her essay.
Following an 'uncomfortable' pregnancy, the media personality expressed that she 'weighed my mental health, my recovery, and the kind of mother I want to be.'

Hewitt added that there is 'inherent guilt in choosing not to breastfeed' which does not vanish 'simply because formula is safe, healthy, and nutritionally complete.
'I still have to remind myself - and sometimes literally ask to be told - that being mentally and emotionally okay is not separate from being a good mother.'
'Feeding choices deserve more nuance and less moral hierarchy. A nourished baby and a mentally healthy mother can and should coexist,' Hewitt wrote
She added that a mother should not have to spend time 'second-guessing' the choice while sharing, 'You do not have to sacrifice your well-being to prove your love.'
