Elisabeth Moss Calls Parenting the Toughest Job

has given a rare insight into motherhood in a new interview. 

While the 43-year-old is an award-winning actor, director and producer, Elisabeth has said she thinks parenting is the 'hardest job in the world'.  

Elisabeth welcomed her first child in 2024 after confirming she was pregnant on 's show in January of that year. 

While she has not publicly revealed the gender of her baby or the father's identity, Elisabeth did speak about motherhood on The Arts Hour on the World Service. 

The actress was on the show to promote her latest thriller, Imperfect Women and spoke of how she drew inspiration from her character, Mary, who is a mother-of-three. 

She said: 'I have so much admiration for how hard not just mums, but dads, too, work.  

'She’s more of a homemaker - a mum, a wife and that’s her job. And taking care of her family is everything. I have a lot of admiration for that.

'I think that is the hardest job in the world. She [Mary] has three, so, it’s something.'

Elsewhere in the interview, Elisabeth reflected on a pinnacle moment in her Hollywood career, when she landed the lead role of June Osborne in Margaret Attwood's TV adaptation of The Handmaid's Tale. 

She won two Emmys for starring as June in the show, which she also produced. It ran from 2017 to 2025. 

Elisabeth said, according to The Mirror: 'It was a very life changing experience personally and professionally for me. Nine years doing that. 

'And I learned how to be a producer, I learned how to be a director, I really learned how to lead a show, as well as my first time being number one on the call sheet. It was really a big, life changing experience.' 

The actress now stars in the eight-part thriller Imperfect Women, based on Araminta Hall's novel of the same name. 

The women are Eleanor (Scandal's Kerry Washington), Nancy (House Of Cards' Kate Mara) and Mary Elisabeth).

The trio have been friends since college and now in their late forties seemingly have perfect lives - but all is not as it seems as when one of them dies in the opening episode, truths begin to unravel. 

The impressive cast also features Corey Stoll and Joel Kinnaman. 

Imperfect Women premiered on Apple TV on March 18 and viewers were impressed after watching the first episode. 

They wrote on X: 'Good first episode, excited for more.'

Another penned: 'Just started Imperfect Women and yep! This is gonna be good.'
