It’s a spine-chilling thriller about a mother who sacrifices herself to a flesh-eating monster to protect her child, but it turns out, Little Bites – produced by mother-son duo Cher and Chaz Bono – is actually a reflection the pop legend’s real-life struggles.
The horror movie serves as a dark metaphor for the lengths a mother would go to protect her children – something that is all too familiar for mom-of-two Cher.
While her role in the film project underscores her commitment to supporting her children’s endeavors, the premise itself seems to eerily mirror the recent challenges she is facing with her troubled younger son Elijah Blue Allman, DailyMail.com can reveal.
‘It’s an absolute bizarre film, but in a good way. Cher adores Chaz and knew how important this was for him so she jumped onboard,’ a family friend told DailyMail.com.
‘It’s supposed to be a metaphor for how far a mother will go to save her children, which is ironic considering the lengths Cher has gone to help Elijah,’ the insider added.
The pop star was famously locked in a bitter legal battle last year with Allman, 48, who had been fighting her attempts to place him in a conservatorship due to his substance abuse issues.

As DailyMail.com reported at the time, Cher, 78, took drastic measures to save her son after he collapsed at LA’s famed Chateau Marmont Hotel in September 2023.
The protracted court battle came to an end about 12 months later when the two finally reached an agreement and Cher withdrew her bid for a conservatorship at Los Angeles Superior Court.
And now, in a hopeful latest twist in the saga, sources reveal Elijah’s relationship with his mother has improved since then, along with his health.
‘Their relationship is better than before, not great, but Cher said she would do anything for her kids,’ the insider said.
‘She knows she wasn’t the best parent when Elijah was a boy, but is doing her best to make it up to him.’
The musician, whose father was the late Greg Allman, has also been spotted in public with wife Marieangela ‘Queeny’ King for the first time in months.

Elijah has endured rocky times in his marriage as well as with his mother in recent years.
He had been separated from his wife, the lead singer of the band KING, and living at the hotel for nearly six months when he was found strung out on drugs in September 2023.
But according to the family friend, the Deadsy frontman has stayed on the straight and narrow since seeking help and his marriage is as strong as ever.
‘Elijah has been sober now for quite some time, focusing on his recovery and mental health and Queeny has been busy promoting her upcoming film, The Spiritualization of Jeff Boyd. She has a song in it called Freak,’ the insider said.
‘Their relationship has never been better. Despite all their ups and downs, they have come out the other end with a greater love and appreciation for each other.

Never a fan of her daughter-in-law, Cher had claimed in court documents that Queeny wasn’t equipped to be her son’s conservator because ‘their tumultuous relationship has been marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises,’ which the 37-year-old strongly denied.
Cher was not invited to the couple’s 2013 wedding, with Elijah later revealing his mother didn’t even acknowledge their engagement.
In 2020, the pair separated with Allman filing for divorce in 2021 only to dismiss the divorce proceedings in 2024.
In a divorce court filing from December 5, 2022, Queeny had accused Cher of hiring four men to kidnap Allman from a hotel in New York in a desperate attempt to stop them from reconciling.
The British singer said she was eventually able to get her husband out of the ‘hellish lockdown, quasi rehab facility in Mexico’ that his mother had sent him to.

Cher has previously admitted that motherhood did not come easy especially with her busy schedule that often kept her away from her two kids when she was a young, single mother.
Now she has been trying to make it up with both Chaz and Elijah.

Cher makes a point of showing her unconditional support for her first born by prefacing in her book, ‘In this memoir, I refer to my son Chaz as Chas, the name he went by during the years covered in this book. Chaz has granted his blessing for this usage. In the next volume, at the appropriate point, I will refer to my son as Chaz.’
Chas is short for Chaz’s birth name Chastity.
Even when she was pregnant with Elijah, Cher knew there would be time constraints writing in her memoir: ‘I knew I was pregnant again…fanning my hands over my belly, I took a deep breath and said, “If you’re coming you have to get here on your own, I don’t have time to stop.” I knew I wouldn’t be able to stop working to help this child get here.’
This was her second pregnancy with Allman with whom she admitted having an abortion early on in their rocky relationship.

She famously packed Elijah off to boarding school when he was just eight.
‘Cher thought she was doing what was best for Elijah when she sent him to boarding school at such a young age. But it’s something she now regrets,’ the insider revealed.
‘However her attempts at saving him now as an adult have pretty much backfired.’
To say the mother and son have had a complicated relationship, is an understatement explained the friend.
But perhaps the success of the film and Elijah’s newfound sobriety will allow the family to rebuild their relationship.
Cher was seen supporting Chaz on the red carpet at the premier of Little Bites in LA last October. The film is set to stream on Shudder on February 21.
