EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: The Game of Homes: Jerome Flynn opens Welsh yoga retreat

As mercenary Bronn in Game of Thrones, he was a bodyguard, assassin and enforcer.

But, in real life, Jerome Flynn has, I can disclose, turned his country home into a peace and wellness retreat – complete with a meditation hut.

The actor, 61, who starred alongside Robson Green in Soldier Soldier and had a number one hit with the duo’s version of Unchained Melody, has swapped his sword for a yoga mat and now hosts courses in physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing and, of course, singing.

Classes include conflict resolution, biodynamic gardening, animal communication, juice-fasting and sacred sound sessions.

There are also residential and day courses in conscious evolution, dynamic Qi Gong and bioenergetic training with a spa cabin and natural swimming pool to help guests relax.

Flynn’s 18th century home, a former farm complex, is described as a ‘magical’ four-acre estate near the Pembrokeshire national park in Wales, overlooking the Celtic Sea.

The land is said to have an ancient healing energy with views over the countryside and sea from Strumble Head to St David’s Head.

Last year, he said: ‘I discovered meditation in my late twenties when I was seeking answers to my own condition and trying to better understand who I really was.’

Flynn has also turned his estate into a B&B by converting two separate cottages and barns into accommodation for up to 20 guests.

He starred in 1980s drama London’s Burning and, in keeping with his role as fireman Kenny ‘Rambo’ Baines, has been given the go-ahead to build an external fire escape and dining room extension at his Grade II-listed Georgian home.

His planning agent said: ‘Provision of a safe route out of the house in the event of a fire has become increasingly important.

‘Although this will involve a somewhat visually obtrusive addition to the rear elevation, the staircase could be removed at a later date.’

She’s Electric! Gene has a new girlfriend

Oasis star Liam Gallagher skipped the Brits this year claiming ITV had ‘ruined’ the awards.

His son Gene, 23, a model and budding musician, was, though, happy to rock on at an after-party with his new girlfriend.

I can disclose that she is Nevey Maya, 20, who is thought to be a student.

‘The family really like her,’ a close friend tells me.

‘Their romance has been going from strength to strength.

‘They like travelling together and recently went on a romantic trip to Paris. She’s become his Wonderwall.’

The pair were joined at the Universal Music Brit Awards party, at 180 Studios in London, by Gene’s mother, the former All Saints singer Nicole Appleton, and her husband, Stephen Haines.

Kimitation is a form of flattery for Claudia

After eyeing Kim Kardashian’s hair at a pre-Oscars party, Claudia Schiffer was left almost quoting Oscar Wilde’s remark that ‘imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness’.

The TV star, 44, wore a long ponytail with black bows – reminiscent of a look shown by Schiffer, 54, on the runway 30 years ago.

‘Loving Kim Kardashian’s hair,’ Schiffer, right, says. ‘Chris Appleton brought the Chanel 1995 look back to life.’

Celebrity hairstylist Appleton adds: ‘We put a more modern spin on it with a middle part and no bangs.’

Philip flips the script

Now starring in the Bergerac reboot, Life On Mars actor Philip Glenister complains that older thespians are being disrespected in auditions.

Glenister, 62, points out that it tends to take veteran performers longer to memorise lines than younger actors.

‘You get sent a script that you have to learn for an audition and invariably what happens is that actors get sent it with two days’ notice,’ he complains.

‘It’s fine if you’re 20 years old and your brain’s fresh… but when you’re a certain age, we take a bit longer. I just feel it’s an insult to the acting profession.’

Maya defies the doctor

Little Women and Stranger Things star Maya Hawke has revealed that she defied doctors’ advice to undergo an operation on her vocal cords.

Maya, 26, who is the daughter of Hollywood stars Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, is also a singer and she worried that her voice might change for the worse.

‘I elected not to get a vocal nodule removal procedure, that would have made my life and singing a little bit easier, because I heard it would change the timbre of my voice,’ she says.

Her voice is recognisable to millions of children for her speaking role as Anxiety in the Disney animation Inside Out 2.

BBC star ‘couldn’t hack’ working from home

Civil servants are in revolt over a mandate that they should deign to attend the office at least three days a week.

BBC star Emma Barnett is, however, no fan of working from home.

‘I did my [Radio] 5 Live programme from home for six weeks and I couldn’t hack it,’ she says at a Jewish Book Week event at Kings Place, London.

‘Gordon Brown was on the line when my son, then aged three, announced that he really needed to poo.’

The former prime minister asked, ‘Who’s that?’ to which she replied: ‘Not me!’

Dame Arlene Phillips defends Brits ‘sex show’

So was Sabrina Carpenter’s Brit Awards performance, in which the pop star, 25, danced on beds in lingerie, that ITV aired a censored version.

Now Dame Arlene Phillips has leapt to her defence.

‘Watching the phenomenal Sabrina Carpenter performing at the Brits reminds me of the dance group I created, Hot Gossip, which caused outrage… and complaints in Parliament that dancing in sexy outfits on television would corrupt young viewers,’ says the former Strictly judge, 81.

‘It didn’t and neither will Sabrina Carpenter.’

Keeley Hawes caves in

Podcasts have been around for 20 years, but Bodyguard star Keeley Hawes has avoided them like the plague.

Now, however, she’s agreed to appear on one, speaking to Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett about food on their podcast, Dish.

‘I’ve steered away from podcasts,’ admits the actress, 49.

‘I love listening to them, but quite often they can be really personal. ‘Often, it sounds like they’ve done an hour of therapy and then they’ve put it on the internet.’
