Perrie Edwards opens up about her upcoming collaboration with Ed Sheeran and the adjustments made to the lyrics

Perrie Edwards has discussed her upcoming collaboration with Ed Sheeran and why she had to change the lyrics.

The singer, 30, is set to release her new single, Forget About Us, on April 12, as she follows in her fellow bandmates footsteps Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson, who have also gone solo.

And as she covered the Spring/Summer issue of Rollacoaster Magazine, Perrie revealed what fans can expect from her new music.

While the musician co-wrote Forget About Us with Ed, 33, she also announced the duo had collaborated for a second song.

Perrie explained: ‘I feel like all the collaborations happened organically. With Ed Sheeran, he had a song and he rang me about it and we discussed the concept.’

She continued: ‘I loved the melody, loved the vibe—I look up to him so much, I think he’s one of the most talented humans put on earth.

‘He’s also such a nice and genuine person, so that’s why I felt comfortable to be like, “I love it, but conceptually, it’s not me. I’m not at that stage in my life right now. Would you be okay if I tweaked the lyrics to suit me and my life?”

‘And he was just like, “Of course!” He wanted me to have full ownership of it, so I went away and did that.’

For another heart-charged hit, she enlisted six-BRIT-Award-winner, RAYE.

‘Getting in the studio with her was ridiculous, she just oozes stardom, I can’t explain it—I think she’s one of the greatest artists of our generation.

‘I’ve been very lucky that the people I have idolised have been really nice to work with—there’s been no big egos or intimidating moments, I think that’s what made the experience so special for me.’

Perrie has yet to announced the release date for her album.

The singer confirmed the track’s title and unveiled its cover art in a social media post shared with followers on March 12.

In February, Perrie teased the release of her new music while busying herself in the recording studio.

She captioned the post: ‘Singing my little heart out….music pending….’

Formed on The X Factor in 2010, Little Mix enjoyed enormous success throughout their 11-year recording career before announcing their split in December 2021.

But the bandmates have suffered mixed fortunes since confirming their decision to put the band out to pasture.

Former member Jesy, who left the band in 2020 to prioritise her mental health, originally signed a solo deal with Polydor Records.

The two parted ways with the label in 2022 following a lukewarm response to her debut single, Boyz.

The singer later released second solo single Bad Thing independently, but the track failed to break into the UK top 100 singles chart.

Jesy has since scrapped plans to release third single Cried Out in favour of an ‘up-tempo banger’ that she claims is ‘me in a nutshell’, according to sources.

Speaking to The Mirror, an insider said: ‘Jesy has been listening to her critics. She is desperate to give fans something epic and is doing all she can to find her authentic sound, but the sudden change-up has unsettled her camp.

‘Last year, most of her debut album was believed to be done – even the artwork was in place – but Jesy has since done a huge u-turn and everything is being reworked, even the aesthetic as it doesn’t match her new up-tempo direction.’

In 2022, Leigh-Anne signed her own solo deal with Warner Records, releasing debut single Don’t Say Love in June 2023.

Chesney Hawkes opens up about spending £8.2m after rising to fame as a teenager, leading to ‘utter exhaustion’ and finding common ground with Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran.

Chesney Hawkes is best known for his iconic hit, The Only And Only – which earned him a staggering £8.2m after it appeared in a movie called Buddy’s Song in 1991.

But speaking on the My Dirty Laundry podcast, Chesney, 52, revealed he blew the whole lot and burned himself out with ‘utter exhaustion’ due to his ‘crazy’ lifestyle.

Admitting he can relate to fellow stars Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran, he urges young people in the industry to ‘be careful and make sure they don’t burn out like he did.’

Chesney admitted: ‘I did that classic thing when I first made it of just blowing everything. I bought a state of the art studio. I bought everyone in my family a car. So yeah, we had fun.

‘My brother Jodie is my drummer and he was with me through the whole time. And yeah, we enjoyed it, because we were young. We were 19 and 17, and we toured all over the world – America, Japan, it was an amazing time.

Chesney Hawkes has said he blew £8.2m after finding fame as a teen but was left suffering from ‘utter exhaustion’ as he admitted he relates to pop icons Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran

After becoming so burned out he fainted during an interview, Chesney said: 'You see it with these young artists now. I remember Adele had to cancel a whole bunch of shows. Harry Styles, (left) had a similar thing. Ed Sheeran, (right), I see it happening'

Adding: 'I've actually worked with a lot of artists that are just going through that first craziness and I always say, "Take it easy because you may burn out".'

‘It was like living in the eye of a storm. So I had my family and the people around me in this kind of bubble, you know?

‘I would be thrown into the hurricane and I’d be gone. And then I’m off to Sweden and then I’m off to New York. I never knew where I was waking up for that first year.

‘It was mental. It was really crazy.’

When asked if he was referring to women or countries when he spoke about not knowing where he was waking up, he said: ‘I am saying nothing.’

Chesney said there is more to him than meets the eye and his lifestyle got so taxing that he suffered from ‘utter exhaustion’ and once fainted while being interviewed.

He said: ‘I see young artists make it like the way that I did nowadays.

‘I’ve actually worked with a lot of artists that are just going through that first craziness and I always say, “Take it easy because you may burn out”.

‘I was doing an interview in Japan and I was so tired. I hadn’t slept and whatever. I was burning candles at both ends and gigging and travelling.

Chesney has a new album coming out called Living Arrows and will be going on tour. He's set to perform at the Kentish Town O2 Forum on May 31 and you will also catch him performing at the Butlin's Weekenders this summer, (pictured performing at Butlin's)

‘And I remember standing up in the middle of this interview and I just fainted. Yeah, it was just exhaustion, like complete and utter exhaustion.

‘You see it with these young artists now. I remember Adele had to cancel a whole bunch of shows. Harry Styles had a similar thing. Ed Sheeran, I see it happening.

‘So I always give them that little, you know [nudge], just be careful, don’t let them, [the machine], burn you out.’

Chesney has previously said his income started drying up a couple of years after his initial success and his record label subsequently dropped him.

He had bought his first home in west London and by the time he was aged 23, he was struggling to pay the mortgage and soon found himself £20k in debt.

But he started writing songs for other people and got himself a publishing deal and his net worth is now thoguht to be about £8million again.

Now a father-of-three. Chesney has been happily married to his American wife, model Krissy since 1995 and he credits her with being a sensible influence.

He said; ‘We’re not your usual popstar/model union. We’ve been together for, well, 28 years this year.

Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn embrace their love during a special date night to welcome him back from touring Asia.

Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn were spotted enjoying a rare date night at Core restaurant in Notting Hill on Friday.

The singer, 33, and his wife, 31, who married in 2019 and are parents to daughters Jupiter, 17 months, and Lyra, two, were joined by his brother at the Michelin Star venue as they celebrated Ed returning from touring Asia.

Ed looked typically stylish in an electric blue jumper and matching Nike trainers, teamed with a black leather jacket.

Cherry opted for a chic ensemble, consisting of a white floral mini dress, tights and chunky boots.

The London venue, which is run by former Gordon Ramsay chef Clare Smyth, boasts 3 Michelin stars and tasting menus begin at £195 per person.

Clare famously catered for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding and is widely regarded as one of the best female chefs in the world.

It comes after Ed’s wife Cherry Seaborn has reportedly revealed a new career move.

The spouse of the hit singer is launching her own business according to new reports.

The Sun claims that Cherry has registered the retail brand Babes In Armour with Companies House with documents suggesting it could sell products including toiletries, lingerie and maternity wear.

Ed and Cherry married in 2019 and are parents to daughters Jupiter, 17 months, and Lyra, two.

A source told the publication: ‘Cherry has a career of her own and isn’t interested in Ed’s fame. Ed loves that she has her own passions.

‘Babes In Armour was an idea she had with a friend, costume designer Jemima Penny and there are lots of possibilities.

‘They have registered the name and are working out the finer details of what their new business will be. It’s very exciting.’

A representative for Ed has been contacted by MailOnline for comment.

Ed and Cherry have always kept their relationship low-key but Ed, 32, sparked concerns when he hinted at marital issues in his latest album.

Autumn Variations, which was released in September, appeared to suggest their relationship was on the rocks at one point, with one song hinting that Cherry ‘may have called time on their relationship’.

Ed’s song Punchline focused on an imploding romance, with lyrics reading: ‘I can’t help but be destructive right now. It’s been weeks since I saw your outline.

‘In my room is a silence so loud. This is what losing hope might sound like.’

During the emotional chorus, it continued: ‘I can’t help it but I love you so. I can’t take this letting go. I still feel like we could work it out or something.

‘All I am is only flesh and bone. Why’s your heart so freezing cold?’

Ed and Cherry have been together since 2015.

In another track, Ed detailed their ‘bumpy road’, and stressed in the song that it is ‘not the end of our lives’.

He sings: ‘This is not the end of our lives, this is just a bump in the ride. I know that it’ll be alright.’

In the song The Day I Was Born, he sings: ‘I broke apart from my lover a couple months ago, if they were here then I guess I wouldn’t be alone.’

However, the album is unclear which songs have been written from Ed’s personal experiences as he has previously spoken about the album being about both his and his friend’s lives.

Ed and Cherry first met at the age of 11 while attending Thomas Mills High School in rural Suffolk.

Cherry, in the year below him, stood out for her natural ability at hockey and Ed for his obvious musical talent.

While the pair parted ways after high school they reconnected in New York City in 2015 and started dating shortly after.

The key to their relationship’s success seems to be their humble Suffolk roots.

Cherry grew up in a charming period property in a village outside Framlingham with her mother Ann, father Matthew, an architect, and younger brother Charlie, who is in the same business as his brother-in-law-to-be, writing film and theatre music.

Meanwhile, Ed lived with mum and dad, Imogen and John, and brother Matthew, in Framlingham, but dropped out of school at 16 to seek his fortune as a singer. At the outset he busked and slept rough under an arch near Buckingham Palace.

Two years after they started dating, Ed proposed to Cherry in 2017 .

He broke the happy news to his then 19 million followers on Instagram with a sweet, again low-key photo of them embracing.

He wrote: ‘Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats (Dorito and Calippo) are chuffed as well.’

The following year the couple tied the knot in a low-key ceremony a few days before Christmas .

A source said: It was very quiet – just Ed’s oldest school pals, limited family and the priest.

‘There were only 40 people – so no Taylor Swift, record company executives or any royals or pop star pals. He wanted no fuss and he wanted it to be something entirely for them – just a tiny winter wedding.

‘Neither of them were that fussed about making a big deal about it. Cherry just wanted to get it out of the way without any problems or intrusions.’

  • Harry Styles returns to the studio to record new music, promising fans his most ’emotional’ project yet

Harry Styles returns to the studio to record new music, promising fans his most ’emotional’ project yet

His last album won him Grammy Awards, Brit Awards and a place on most people’s Spotify playlists.

Now the Mail can reveal Harry Styles is back in the studio recording new music with what is expected to be his most ’emotional’ project yet.

Spotted in recent weeks stepping inside Rak music studios in St John’s Wood near Regent’s Park, 30-year-old Styles has been hard at work.

The studios were founded in in 1976 by English record producer Mickie Most – who was known for his hits with the Animals, Jeff Beck, Donovan, Suzi Quatro and Kim Wilde, among others. He was also a recording artist, record label boss and TV producer.

After Mr Most died in 2003 aged 64, his daughter Natalie Hayes took over the studios helping it to win studio of the year in 2014, 2015 and 2017.

In recent years, the studios have been home to record makers such as Ed Sheeran, 33, Adele, 35, Sir Rod Stewart, 79, and David Bowie, who died aged 69 in 2016.

Made up of four fully equipped studios, recording artists are also able to stay overnight in either of the two accommodations.

To allow traveling artists to have easy access to the studios, Rak owns a townhouse and a studio flat next door that come fully equipped.

The townhouse, which is next door to the studios, sleeps up to six people should celebrities come with an entourage.

There is also two bathrooms as well as a fully equipped kitchen should anyone prefer to cook at home.

The studio flat is above the main Rak building and has one bedroom, an en-suite and gives guests 24-hour access to the recording studios.

Rak also has its own dining facilities for recording artists – meaning they never have to leave should they want to.

And should celebrities fancy something sweet, there is ‘biscuit cupboard’ which is always fully stocked.

The idea was introduced in memory of Mr Most who would regularly fill the boot of his Rolls Royce with biscuits for the celebrities and staff working late at RAK.

New music from Styles is highly anticipated with many fans pleading for a 2024 album.

Whilst on stage in New Zealand in 2023, he spoke about the songwriting process and teased: ‘We’re almost at the end of the fruit bowl. Come album four, who knows? No citrus is safe.’

His third studio album Harry’s House was released in 2022 and won him Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album as well as a Brit Award for Album of the Year.

Rak studios are just a stone’s throw away from his North London home.

Sources say the tracks so far are some of the most poignant and most revealing songs they’ve heard from Styles.

No stranger to the illustrious studios, it’s known he recorded his 2019 hit Adore You there.

Close friend and ex-One Directon bandmate Niall Horan, 30, recorded his 2017 track Fool’s Gold there too.

Having just got off tour, the star has been quick to return to the studio, with many thinking he would have opted for a long break before getting back to work.

Styles’s Gucci-filled two-year-long Love on Tour is reported by Billboard Boxscore to have sold five million tickets and grossed $617.3 million (£489.2million).

Since breaking off from One Direction in 2015, he is now believed to be the UK’s richest star aged 30 and under, worth £175million, according to the 2023 Heat Rich List.

Despite owning three properties in North London – bring his total investment in the area to more than £15million – Styles was spotted in New York this week with his new girlfriend Taylor Russell, 29.

The singer and actress were first linked as a couple in June 2023.

The Watermelon Sugar hitmaker is reportedly ‘head over heels for Taylor,’ a source revealed to Us Weekly last year before noting that he ‘loves spending as much time with her as he can’.

At the start of the year the pair travelled to Antigua but shortly after their return, Styles was reportedly left ‘shaken’ after he was targeted by staler Myra Carvalho, 35, who was charged with causing him serious harm and distress.

Since his last album Styles broke up with Olivia Wilde, 40, whom he worked together with whilst starring in the 2022 film ‘Don’t Worry Darling’.

Then four months later he was spotted kissing model Emily Ratajkowski, 32, in Tokyo.

This month sources close to Styles revealed that despite dating his new girlfriend Russell for less than a year it is also said that he was ‘ready to start a family’ with the Canadian.

Sources explained: ‘Harry feels as if he has lived ten lifetimes already, but one thing is certain – his 30s will be nothing like his 20s. He has experienced all the fame anyone could ever want. He is now ready for the next chapter.

‘He is in love with Taylor. He wants a family with her and this is the next phase of his life.’

And with his next music set to be the most emotional he’s made yet, fans will hope to get an insight into the pop star’s sensitive side.

Harry Styles takes a leisurely walk in the sun with a friend in New York following former bandmate Zayn Malik’s release of his highly anticipated new single

Harry Styles was spotted heading out for a stroll in New York on Saturday, hours after his ex-bandmate Zayn Malik released his new single.

The singer, 30, cut a casual figure as he made the most of the spring sunshine while heading out with a pal.

Harry – who is now worth an estimated $190 million – is known for having a slightly more flamboyant wardrobe for the stage, but seemingly thought best to save that for his next performance.

The style icon, who hasn’t posted on his social media for four months, seems to be taking some downtime after his two-year run of Love On Tour shows ended last year.

The As It Was hitmaker played an incredible 169 dates in 23 months, raking in over a whopping £620million in revenue and drawing in over 5 million fans.

And it seems the hard work certainly paid off as Harry ranked in fourth place behind major artists including Elton John, Ed Sheeran and Irish rockers U2, who all made up the top three of the Billboard Boxscore Chart of the top 10 tours of all time.

The news comes after Harry’s former band mate Zayn Malik made a rare outing in New York City on Wednesday to announce his upcoming album and latest single.

The Bradford born star showed off his head tattoo as he appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where he told his new music, titled Room Under The Stairs – the first in three years.

During the Jimmy’s opening words, Zayn walked across the set and silently placed a note and a mug of coffee in the host’s hand.

He then hit play on a laptop, teasing a snippet of his new track What I Am, before waving at the audience and walking away.

The note read: ‘Jimmy, look to your right for my album. My new single What I Am is out this Friday off my upcoming album Room Under The Stairs, available May 17. Hope you’ll check it out.’

‘I will. Zayn everybody!’ Jimmy announced.

The singer’s first single, titled ‘What I Am,’ released on Friday on March 15, with the album coming two days later.

The news comes after Harry’s former band mate Zayn Malik made a rare TV appearance on Wednesday to announce his upcoming album and latest single, which was released on Friday

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Zayn said: ‘I’m doing a record I don’t think people are really going to expect. It’s a different sound for me.

‘And it’s got some more narrative going on, like real-life experiences and stuff. My daughter’s mentioned in there a couple of times.’

Harry has been keeping a very low profile but became an uncle after his sister Gemma Styles welcomed her first child in February after a secret pregnancy.

The writer and podcaster made the shock announcement on her Instagram where she shared a snap of herself and partner Michal Miynowski with their daughter.

Alongside the post, she wrote: ‘Hello from maternity leave! Took some time off to ensure the safe arrival of our baby girl, who is adored by her whole family.

‘I know that this news can be difficult for many people and I’m sending you lots of love.’

Despite Harry having dated his latest girlfriend Taylor Russell, 29, for less than a year, it is thought that he is ‘ready to start a family’ with the Canadian actress.

A source said: ‘Harry feels as if he has lived ten lifetimes already, but one thing is certain – his 30s will be nothing like his 20s.

‘He has experienced all the fame anyone could ever want. He is now ready for the next chapter.

‘He is in love with Taylor. He wants a family with her and this is the next phase of his life.’

While Harry will no doubt continue to make music and is expected to further ‘explore his acting opportunities’, insiders warn fans not to expect any new projects in the near future.

The source added: ‘Harry no longer needs to prove himself and he is finally going to take some time to reap the rewards of his success.’

Raye Wins Songwriter Of The Year at BRIT Awards 2024 with Record Nominations

With just days to go until the 2024 BRIT Awards, it has been announced that Raye will receive the coveted Songwriter Of The Year prize.

After receiving a record seven nominations, the hitmaker will be in attendance at Saturday’s ceremony in London’s O2 Arena.

This prestigious prize, introduced in 2022, celebrates exceptional songwriting talent and was decided upon by a select panel of expert judges. Previous winners are Ed Sheeran and Kid Harpoon.

RAYE will also perform on this year’s BRITs, along with Becky Hill X Chase & Status, Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding, Dua Lipa, Jungle, Kylie Minogue, Rema and Tate McRae.

RAYE commented: ‘I am so so honoured and blown away, honestly to be given this prestigious award for Songwriter of the Year, it is my very first BRIT award and I will treasure this trophy very much.

‘I am so grateful to be recognised as a songwriter as this is a craft I am so passionate about and have been since I started my journey as a musician, and I’m very grateful to those who voted for me to have this award.’

Damian Christian, Managing Director and President of Promotions at Atlantic Records (part of Warner Music UK) and Chair of the BRIT Committee for 2024 added: ‘After receiving a record-breaking seven nominations, I’m delighted that RAYE has also been named Songwriter of the Year.

‘RAYE has been such a prominent and respected songwriter for many years, so it’s great to see her getting the recognition she deserves on the biggest stage.

‘I’d like to congratulate her on this win and wish her all the best for Saturday night.’

Raye is the most nominated British female in BRIT Awards history after receiving seven nominations – following the release of her long-awaited debut album, My 21st Century Blues.

Speaking about her BRIT nominations this year, she said the industry considered her ‘down and out’.

‘It’s a miracle, it’s deep. Year and a half ago, as far as the industry was concerned, I was down and out and never in my wildest dreams would I feel like trying again and it would lead to seven BRIT nominations.

‘I’m a Brit kid, I went to the BRIT’s School and this was the goal. The ultimate goal was to find my way somehow to the Brit awards.

27 Years Later: Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reunion with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Seth Green at the 2024 Producers Guild Awards

Sarah Michelle Gellar flashed a cheerful smile as she reunited with her Buffy The Vampire Slayer co-star, Seth Green, at the 35th Annual Producers Guild Awards in LA on Sunday.

The actress, 46 – who turned heads in a dazzling silver gown at the event – was seen crossing paths with the Green, 50, inside the star-studded Ray Dolby Ballroom during the festivities.

The pair paused for a memorable snap together – after briefly reuniting last fall during an Ed Sheeran concert in Los Angeles.

In the hit series – which aired from 1997 through 2003 – Gellar notably took on the role as Buffy while Seth portrayed the character of Daniel ‘Oz’ Osbourne.

Later next month on March 10th, the show will celebrate its 27th anniversary since its initial premiere.

Other stars that had been cast in the beloved show included Alyson Hannigan, David Boreanaz, Charisma Carpenter, as well as Nicholas Brendon.

The premise followed, ‘A young woman, destined to slay vampires, demons and other infernal creatures, deals with her life fighting evil, with the help of her friends,’ per IMDB.

In regards to if there will ever be a Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot, Sarah told SFX Magazine earlier last year, per IndieWire, ‘I am very proud of the show that we created and it doesn’t. We wrapped that up.’

She added, ‘I am all for them continuing the story, because there’s the story of female empowerment.’

‘I love the way the show was left: “Every girl who has the power can have the power.” It’s set up perfectly for someone else to have the power.’

‘But like I said, the metaphors of “Buffy” were the horrors of adolescence. I think I look young, but I am not an adolescent,’ Gellar further explained.

Last year in September, both Sarah and Seth reunited while attending an Ed Sheeran concert in L.A. – and also had a blast with another castmate, Emma Caulfield.

Gellar – who is married to Freddie Prinze Jr. – uploaded a few snaps as the trio posed together at SoFi Stadium.

The actress penned in the caption, ‘My daughter wanted her 14 bday party to be at @teddysphotos concert at @sofistadium.’

‘Her guest list may not have been what you expected (also swipe to last pic to see how to make a concert tee a great dress) Also I really love these people.’

One month earlier, Sarah crossed paths with Seth Green while attending Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert in L.A.

She shared a selfie that the pair had taken shortly before the festivities commenced, and the blonde beauty could be seen puckering her lips towards Green as he sent a smile towards the camera.

Later in the night, the mother-of-two also uploaded a cute video of both herself and Seth singing along to the lyrics of I Knew You Were Trouble.

On Sunday at the Producers Guild Awards, Gellar wowed wearing a sparkling, gray dress that fell down past her ankles and also contained sheer sleeves.

The Cruel Intentions actress slipped into a pair of open-toed, silver heels to coincide with the color scheme of the look.

The beauty carried a small clutch in her hand while opting for a pair of mini, rhinestone earrings to accessorize the ensemble.

Her blonde locks were swept up into a chic up do, allowing a few loose strands to border the sides of her face.

Green was seen sporting a classic, black suit as well as a plain, gray shirt which offered a casual flare to his outfit.

Sarah has been keeping busy and recently starred in the Paramount+ series titled, Wolf Pack, which she also executive produced.

Seth is known for his voice role as Chris Griffin on Family Guy, and recently voiced the character of Howard the Duck in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 – which released last year in May.

Ed Sheeran’s 33rd Birthday Filled with Humorous Photos and Iconic Friendship with Bodyguard

Ed Sheeran rang in his 33rd birthday on Saturday, and took to his Instagram at the weekend to celebrate the milestone.

The singer-songwriter shared two hilarious photos from his backstage dressing room, which was filled with gold balloons.

Captioning the photos, the Castle On The Hill hitmaker simply wrote: ‘Happy birthday to me’.

One playful snap saw Ed don a party hat and pose with a blank faced expression, while blowing a party horn in his mouth.

In the next shot, the Grammy-winner sported a pair of sunglasses decorated with birthday cakes that read ‘Happy Birthday’.

He pulled down his black T-shirt to show it to the camera, showing it to be emblazoned with photos of his bodyguard, Kevin Myers.

Ed and Kevin, who has been nicknamed Security Kev, have a long-standing bromance, that has become beloved by fans.

Kev even started his own Instagram, where he documents his life travelling the world with his famous boss.

He began the account in 2018 and has racked up nearly 700,000 followers, quickly winning over fans with his hilarious captions.

In one post, Kev mimes giving Ed a kiss as he quips: ‘Had an eventful Valentine’s Day with bae’ adding the hashtags: ‘#hegotmeflowers #whatishelike #thenaromanticdinner #thenUNOWHAT #imthedaddy’.

Another snap saw the pair recreate the iconic poster for the 1992 hit film The Bodyguard, starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.

Ed played the part of diva Whitney as he was gathered up by Kev, who used Ed’s Thinking Out Loud lyrics as inspiration, to caption it: ‘When his legs don’t work like they used to before…’

Ed previously revealed in 2015 that he had hired security after fans started to get ‘a little bit grabby’.

Ed’s birthday didn’t appear to have been dampened by Rod Stewart bizarrely slamming the star last week.

The British rocker, 79, blasted the musician as ‘old ginger b*****ks’ and suggested his music ‘would not stand the test of time in comparison to his own or that of fellow singer George Ezra, 30.

Speaking to The Times, Rod was asked whether he believed that timeless songs were still being made today.

The singer referenced his own 1971 track, saying: ‘I’m sure they are. You mean like Maggie May? Songs that will be played in 50 years?’

He then described a British male artist he liked, but forgot his name, saying: ‘I like whatshisname. Oh f***ing great, Rod. Well done. He’s British, really talented and his songs will be around. Erm…’

When asked if he meant Ed, Rod immediately fumed: ‘No, not Ed, I don’t know any of his songs, old ginger b*****ks. Jesus…’

Rod gushed: ‘Yes! I think he writes really tremendous songs. He’ll be around for quite a while.’

The attack on Ed from Rod seemingly came out of nowhere, as the pair have not seen clashing publicly in the past and both are close friends with Elton John. Ed has not publicly responded to Rod’s comments.

Review: Il Divo XX – A shift from classical to pop covers with intense force, according to ADRIAN THRILLS

    IL DIVO: XX (Thirty Tigers)

Put together by Simon Cowell in the early 2000s, the crossover group now control their own affairs, and this 20th anniversary release sees a shift from classical and Broadway fare to pop covers.

Their powerful harmonies turn Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy into a mournful ballad, and they deliver Elvis’s Always On My Mind with gale-force intensity.

They dial down the bravado with a mellow take on Ed Sheeran’ Perfect — proof that a decent song can lend itself to any musical arrangement.

It’s a fitting tribute to founder member Carlos Marín, who died in 2021.

MOLLY LEWIS: On The Lips (Jagjaguwar)

Whistling has never been one of pop’s cornerstones, despite the efforts of Otis Redding (on The Dock Of The Bay) and Ennio Morricone (on The Good, The Bad And The Ugly). But that hasn’t deterred Molly Lewis.

The Sydney-born, LA-based artist contributed a version of Billie Eilish’s What Was I Made For? to the Barbie soundtrack, and this debut album, with her soaring whistling the main ingredient, conjures up visions of smoky jazz clubs and Italian film scores.

She covers Dave Berry’s 1960s standard The Crying Game, while her originals are sultry and atmospheric.

TONY CHRISTIE: We Still Shine (Universal)

Christie’s dementia diagnosis in 2021 adds poignancy to a set of country-flavoured tunes about the passage of time and holding onto treasured memories.

The Yorkshire singer, who topped the charts with (Is This The Way To) Amarillo in 2005, made this record in Nashville, and there’s an impressive cameo from Texan singer-songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman, who co-writes and supplies backing vocals on ballad In The Times Of My Weakness. Banjos, pedal steel guitars and female backing vocalists add rustic textures to a reflective, but sanguine, return.
