has clapped back at claims that he was 'falling asleep' live on air while presenting earlier this month.

The presenter, 66, with his 'slurred speech and being caught napping'.

Eamonn set the record straight during an appearance at Hayley Palmer's An Audience With... in London's Hippodrome Casino on Wednesday. 

He said: 'I was just looking down at my mic pack to see why it was not working, as we don't have floor managers or camera operators. 

'Apparently I was sleeping? Whatever!', according to The Mirror.

Eamonn was presenting his show alongside his co-host Ellie Costello when he appeared to fall asleep in his chair, as well as play around with his microphone and mobile.

The presenter disappeared from the breakfast TV show days after worrying fans with his 'slurred speech and being caught napping'

It comes after Eamonn shared a 'horrendous' health update - and claimed that the 'ageist' TV industry 'doesn't that he is older and in a wheelchair. 

Back in 2016, the broadcaster underwent a double hip replacement, but in 2021 he suffered three slipped discs and a dislocated pelvis.

He then had major spinal surgery the following year, and has had various other health issues over the past few years. 

During a recent appearance on Scott Wright’s podcast, Session7, the journalist shared how he is doing right now - and opened up the daily struggles he faces in and outside of work. 

Host Scott asked him: 'What does the future hold for Eamonn Holmes?' 

Eamonn, who is currently in a relationship with Katie Alexander, 43, said: 'I don't know, society's ageist, I'm sick, I'm in a wheelchair, that's been horrendous to . 

'Certainly, I don't think TV wants to know you. I can't get up. I need help getting out of this chair. I have to have carers throughout the day.

'But once I'm sitting down, I can do everything. I understand my job, I understand what I'm supposed to do. But I understand it's tough for people to deal with you.'

He added in the podcast: 'When you're disabled, it's unbelievable how society... whether it's a theatre, a restaurant or a cinema.

'The cinema never ceases to amaze me. I love the cinema, but when you go to the cinema and you're disabled, you get two choices: you're either at the very, very, very back and beyond of the cinema, or you're right at the very front.

'And you think to yourself, why is this? Why does it have to be one or the other like that?'

Eamonn has been a huge name in the TV and showbiz industry for a number of years. 

He has presented various television shows including GMTV, Open Air, Jet Set, TV Scrabble and How Do They Do That?

The journalist also co-. The pair announced their split in in 2024 after 14 years of marriage.
