Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union Celebrate Daughter Zaya’s Graduation

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade proudly posed with his transgender daughter Zaya Wade moments after she graduated from Campbell Hall on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old nepo baby donned a classic cap and gown over a b&w dress for the ceremony held at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown LA amid the ICE raid protests.

The 43-year-old retired NBA star beamed as he embraced Zaya (born Zion), who will begin her astrobiology studies at a mystery college in a Democratically-leaning blue state this fall.

Dwyane’s 23-year-old son Zaire Wade posted a Snapchat video of himself posing back to back with his sister on the LA Phil staircase, and she also posed with her six-year-old half-sister Kaavia.

Wade welcomed Zaya and Zaire during his five-year marriage to high school sweetheart Siohvaughn Funches, which ended in 2007.

The Utah Jazz co-owner also fathered 11-year-old son Xavier with babymama Aja Metoyer, and raised his 23-year-old nephew Dahveon Morris.

Notable alumni of the Studio City private school includes filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, actress Dakota Fanning, her younger sister Elle Fanning, Modern Family alum Ariel Winter, and the Olsen twins.

It was Gabrielle who publicly announced Zaya’s gender affirmation, at age 12, on February 11, 2020 and she’s ‘instilled such a confidence in my femininity.’

‘I tried to compensate in every single way, and it was so draining,’ Wade – who’s currently taking estrogen – recalled to Who What Wear last April.

‘[Union] was so adamant about telling me that I don’t have to look or act a certain way — I can just be me. And, oh my god, I thank her every day for it.’

On May 29, the outspoken Zoomer transformed her 18th birthday ball at NueuHouse Hollywood into a $20/ticket fundraiser for her non-profit organization Translatable, and MAC Cosmetics donated $100K to the Trans Wellness Center in her honor.

It also marked the one-year anniversary for the digital arts initiative designed to empower trans youth of color and their families, which Zaya and Dwyane co-founded together.

‘Your transparency should be studied @zayawade,’ the 52-year-old Riff Raff actress – who boasts 37M social media followers – gushed of her stepdaughter.

‘They say parents are the ones to raise and show their children “the way,” but you’ve been the one to show us what true strength, vulnerability, and love really look like.

‘At just 18, you’ve already shown the world what it means to be brave. Your courage lights the way for so many to follow, and we’re right beside you every step of the way.’

Zaya is every bit the influencer with paid partnerships for brands like Chanel, Revolve, Fujifilm Instax, and Uber.

The married couple of 10 years – who split in 2013 – originally met at a Super Bowl party in 2007 before going public with their romance in 2010.

Gabrielle will next voice Jett Fillmore aka Black Leopard in Tyree Dillihay’s animated basketball film GOAT – hitting US/UK theaters February 13 – alongside Caleb McLaughlin, David Harbour, Nicola Coughlan, Jenifer Lewis, Nick Kroll, and Patton Oswalt.
