Drew Barrymore came clean about a dirty X-rated blunder from yesteryear that nearly made her sex life public for all to see and read.
During Wednesday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the host and her guests used a news article as a talking point to discuss a trend involving millennial women who keep lists of the people they’ve had sex with on their phones.
Of the five, only Barrymore raised her hand to indicate she had in fact made a sex list, which happened to be just over 20 years ago when she starred with Ben Stiller in the black comedy film Duplex (2003), which she also produced.
‘I made a list and it was back in the day,’ she recounted to the group that included cohort Ross Matthews, and Tony Dokoupil, Nate Burleson and Vladimir Duthiers of CBS Mornings. ‘I did it with paper and pen. I’m the most disorganized person, I lose everything. I left it at someone’s house.’
‘I was producer a film that Danny DeVito was directing and so I wrote the list on the back of a set of notes for the film,’ she admitted, before adding, ‘So I left it at Danny DeVito’s house.’
Drew Barrymore, 49, came clean and admitted she made lists of the people she had sex with, only to reveal that she lost that list while meeting with the director of a film she was producing
During Wednesday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the host confessed she lost her sex list at Danny DeVito’s home, while they were working on the black comedy film Duplex in 2002
‘Some lists have the names in chronological order, while someone more chaotic have nicknames to remember who they were,’ Burleson, 42, explained about the sex list trend being reported.
He added, ‘Dating experts say these lists have the capacity to provide a lot more that naysayers may think.’
‘So looking back and seeing who you slept with or didn’t sleep with can tell you a lot about what was going on in your life at that time,’ the journalist shared in the set-up to conversation.
As all four of the people on the set not named Drew Barrymore sat on the edges of their seats waiting to hear how this all played out, the host said she ultimately admitted the mishap to DeVito.
‘He came on the show and I was like, “I left my sex list at your house,’ the Batman Forever actress said as she laughed out loud with her face in the palm of her hands.
Asked if she shared any potentially embarrassing and juicy details on her list, Barrymore shook her head ‘no’, while revealing a bashful side to her personality.
‘No, it was names,’ she revealed, before clarifying, ‘Full names,’ she said while looking a bit mischievous with a sly grin and one finger placed on her lips.
She made a point to disclose: ‘This was in the early 2000s and we were still working on flip-phones so there was no attacks back then.’

Vladimir Duthiers, 54, and Nate Burleson, 42, were stunned when the host disclosed she did her sex list but lost it while at Danny DeVito’s house in 2002
It turns out she had nothing to worry about after DeVito, who also narrated Duplex, joked about the slip-up during his appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in September 2022.
After being asked whether the former Taxi and Cheer actor ever found her list at his home, DeVito, 79, joked, ‘As a matter of fact, I’ve been meaning to talk to you about this. Some of the names on that … I made a copy of it, and it’s going to be in my autobiography.’
After enjoying a laugh or two at her expense, the Twins star gave her the real story: ‘No, I never came across it,’ he eventually admitted. ‘I never saw it. Your secret is safe with me.’
