Drew Barrymore spoke out against young girls using anti-aging products in a post that was shared on her Instagram account on Tuesday morning.
The 49-year-old actress, who shared the post as part of her partnership with Dove, applied a star-shaped sticker and three fake pearls to the side of her face while posing for a selfie.
The talk show host – who recently opened up about finding happiness after her turbulent early years – also penned a short message to let her fans know that she felt that younger girls should not be the primary targets for anti-aging products.
‘We have to figure out messaging that empowers women and also lets young girls know that they have so much ahead of them. And they don’t need anti-aging!’ Barrymore wrote.
The Santa Clarita Diet star, who shared the post to promote Dove’s #TheFaceof10 campaign, then stated that anti-aging products were largely ineffective and that aging was a natural part of life.

The performer wrote: ‘You will never “anti-age.” If you’re lucky, you will actually get to age.’
She also referred to the rise of anti-aging products as an ‘unnecessary beauty trend’ and wrote that she wanted to ‘help protect the self-esteem of young girls.’
Barrymore concluded her message by writing that she felt as if growing older was ‘a privilege.’
‘If we create powerful and positive messaging, we get to be as playful as we want and as empowered as we want,’ she added.
The personal care brand initially launched its #TheFaceof10 campaign this past February.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about the potentially negative physical and mental effects that anti-aging products can have on younger girls.
Barrymore recently spoke to People and told the media outlet that she had become very cautions about the skincare products she allowed her daughters Olive, 11, and Frankie, 9, to use at home.
The actress shares her children with her former husband Will Kopelman, to whom she was married from 2012 until 2016.

The performer then clarified that, while she was not against younger children focusing on skincare, she was mainly concerned with the safety of anti-aging products.
‘I just want to make sure that young girls, while they’re really invested and in love with skincare…are making sure that their skin is safe and the messages they’re receiving are healthy,’ she stated.
Barrymore added that she wanted to ensure that the products her daughters were using were ‘age-appropriate.’
