DRAMATIC new footage has captured the moment Nick Reiner surrendered just hours after he allegedly slaughtered his parents at their Los Angeles mansion.
Nick, 32, was seen calmly buying a Gatorade at a nearby petrol station in chilling CCTV footage hours after he allegedly slit his parents’ throats in a brutal double murder.
The youngest son of the When Harry Met Sally director Rob, 78, and wife Michele, 70, was spotted lurking near a Metro station around 15 miles from their sprawling $13.5million Brentwood estate.
Nick was dressed head to toe in dark clothing and wearing a baseball cap.
He can be seen calmly strolling into a petrol station to buy himself a drink, before heading back onto the street where he was apprehended.
As two police cars screeched up to the sidewalk, he immediately threw his arms in the air.
Within seconds more patrol cars swarmed the scene as armed cops poured out and held the alleged killer at gunpoint.
He was then forced to the ground and cuffed while lying on the pavement, according to photos shared by the LAPD’s Gang and Narcotics Unit.

Investigators raided Nick’s motel room that he had been staying in and found a shower “full of blood,” blood smeared all over the bed, and the windows blacked out with the bedsheets, according to TMZ sources.
Nick is reportedly being held on suicide watch at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.
He was initially being held on $4 million bail, but that has since been revoked, according to Los Angeles police.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Rob and Michele Reiner appeared to have been dead for hours when they were found on Sunday afternoon, with rigor mortis already setting in.
Rigor mortis usually begins between two and six hours after death.
The iconic Hollywood couple’s daughter Romy, 28, discovered the gruesome scene after they failed to let in a masseuse they had booked.
Romy reportedly told cops that older brother Nick “should be a suspect” because he is “dangerous,” sources said.
Eerie CCTV video showed him strolling towards his parents’ home mere hours before they were murdered.
Nick and his parents had last been seen locked in a blazing row at Conan O’Brien’s A-list Xmas bash the night before the murders on December 13.
The couple asked if they could bring their son to the star-studded event to “keep an eye on him”.
The trio’s explosive argument is believed to have centred on Nick’s refusal to return to rehab, according to the New York Post.
A lifelong friend of the family also told the outlet that “Rob had been telling people that they’re scared for Nick and scared that his mental state was deteriorating.”
The screenwriter was said to have been exhibiting “antisocial behaviour” while at the party, including eerily staring at other guests.
At one point, Nick apparently stormed off in a huff after being snubbed by SNL star Bill Hader.
Yesterday, it was revealed that the troubled writer faces a possible death sentence after being charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Nathan Hochman, the district attorney of Los Angeles, unveiled the charges and said Nick would be charged with special circumstances, which can add time to any sentence.
“Charges are not evidence,” the district attorney said.
“Evidence is something we will be presenting in a court of law to meet the standard of proof we meet at every criminal case, which is beyond a reasonable doubt.”
Nick faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, if convicted.
Hochman said his office will consider the death penalty in Nick’s case.
“Prosecuting these cases involving family members are some of the most challenging and heart-wrenching cases that this office faces because of the intimate and often brutal nature of the crimes involved,” the district attorney added.
Nick’s struggle
Nick, who is rarely seen in public, had previously been outspoken about his struggles with drug addiction and opened up in a 2016 interview with People.
The 32-year-old disclosed that he first went to rehab when he was aged 15, and after that, 17 additional stints followed.
He admitted that his battles with drug addiction led to him being homeless at one point, saying, “When I was out there, I could’ve died.”
“It’s all luck. You roll the dice and you hope you make it,” he told People at the time.
During a series of interviews on the Dopey podcast, Nick revealed two incidents where he completely wrecked his parents’ guesthouse after being up for days while on a drug binge.
“I went 10 rounds in my guesthouse,” he said in the interview from 2018 and 2017, respectively.
“It’s not much of a story. I got totally spun out on uppers – I think it was coke and something else, and I was up for days on end.”
Nick said that the drug-fueled destruction first began with a television set, before turning to a lamp, and then eventually the entire guesthouse.
“Everything in the guesthouse got wrecked,” he added.
