Dr. Michael Mosley’s Just One Thing Replacements Announced After His Passing at 67

Dr Michael Mosley’s replacements on his podcast-turned-TV-series Just One Thing have been revealed.

Tragically, only two episodes of the series were completed before his untimely and shocking death aged 67 while walking on a Greek island in the summer.

Despite the huge popularity of Michael’s diet plan, it was his Radio 4 podcast series Just One Thing that had the widest-reaching impact.

Michael started recording the podcast from a wardrobe during lockdown – and it sees him encourage healthy habits by introducing easy routines or simple swaps into daily life.

But the series is reportedly set to return – and Michael’s presence was so powerful it is said that the BBC have enlisted not one, not two, but three presenters to replace him.

Newsreader Clive Myrie, The One Show host Roman Kemp and former Radio 2 Breakfast Show’s Zoe Ball will reportedly helm the show, according to The Sun.

The new series will again focus on how little changes can improve your health and mental wellbeing.

Each of the new presenters will lead four episodes each, in which they will travel to different parts of the UK to find people and communities enacting that change.

From how laughing can help your brain health and eating beetroot to up your stamina, to gut-friendly gardening, avant garde takes on wellness will be tested.

Just One Thing will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. All the original podcasts are available on BBC Sounds.

Dr Mosley was tragically found dead by a fence at the resort of Agia Marina in June just 260 feet from a beach bar and safety.

He had left friends on the island’s Agios Nikolaos beach at around 1.30pm at the time to go for a walk but he never returned.

A five-day search for the much-loved health guru and Mail columnist ended in tragedy when his body was found face up in a rocky area.

An autopsy found that the 67-year-old died around two-and-a-half hours after leaving his wife and friends, as he trawled the island with no mobile phone and a single bottle of water.

It has since been ruled by a coroner that his death was most likely as a result of suffering heatstroke.

Earlier this month, Michael’s widow revealed that she and their children returned to the Greek island where he died on the anniversary of his death.

His wife, Dr Clare Bailey Mosley, had waved him off after they had spent the morning at a beach on the east of the island with friends, after arriving the day before.

She was surprised not to find her husband when returning to their villa in Symi that afternoon, but never expected that she would end up taking him home in a coffin.

Heartbroken after the discovery of his body just 260ft from a beach bar, Clare paid an emotional tribute to her ‘wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant’ husband and father of their four children, Alex, 35, Jack, 33, Dan, 31, and Kate, 26.

But in the year since, the widow has continued to be blighted by grief. Her father and uncle have both died, as well as her step-sister, who was in her 40s.

While dealing with immense levels of loss and the ‘profound’ shock of losing her husband, Clare told how going back to the location of her husband’s death was a surprising comfort to her.

‘We all felt that was just going to be too much,’ she told The Sunday Times as she explained why they did not stay in Symi, but instead visited.

‘Because we had climbed and searched and scratched our way through so much of the strange parts of the island, so it was very, very fraught.

‘But we did go back on the day, to the lovely, beautiful monastery at the far end of Symi. I’ve not grown up religious at all, but I find it comforting to sit on a pew.’
