Example has shared his heartbreak after his close friend DJ Jackmaster tragically died from an ‘accidental head injury’ at the age of 38.
The family of the Scottish musician, whose real name is Jack Revill, confirmed he passed away on Saturday morning in Ibiza, Spain, in a poignant Instagram post.
Now, English singer Example, 42, has taken to social media to share an emotional tribute to his friend, who he described as ‘insanely gifted’ and ‘down to earth’.
Example, whose real name is Elliot John Gleave, shared the final photograph he took with Jack in Glasgow earlier this year alongside some very heartfelt words.
The Kickstarts hitmaker, who lives in Brisbane to co-parent his two kids with his ex-wife Erin McNaught, admitted he will greatly ‘miss’ the talented DJ and producer.
He penned: ‘I landed off a 20 hour flight to this on Sunday. I hadn’t seen my kids for 3 weeks so I had to put this heartbreaking news to the back of my mind for a few days. So here goes…
‘Down to earth. Brutally honest. F**kin hilarious. Loyal. Blunt. Passionate. Annoyingly stylish. Insanely gifted. Energised a room whether on the decks or off them. We had some fuckin’ epic nights together Jacky Boy. You’ll be missed.
‘I’m so so glad I got to see you in Glasgow this year, just had no idea that this photo would be the last time.

‘All my love and support to your family and close friends. And when you reached out for help at times, I hope you knew you were also helping me too.’
He went on to praise Jack for incredible DJ talents and revealed his friend was constantly introducing him to new music with his varied sets.
He continued: ‘For those of you who never got to see Jack do his thing: Imagine … Simian Mobile Disco being mixed into Missy Elliott into Sister Sledge into Darude into Krystal Klear into Prodigy into Jackson 5 into Wookie into Roger Sanchez into Cassius into whatever else he wanted to … it was seamless and he made it look easy.
‘And I’m just listing artists here you may have heard of … most of the time he played stuff I’d never even heard and it was an education.
‘Sometimes I just had Shazam running in my pocket for the whole set so I could check the ID’s later.
‘And it was always mind blowing to me that I got to see master selectors like Skream and Doorly and Oneman and Artwork look on at him like ‘WTF’.
‘In my all time Top 10 DJ sets I’ve ever seen live – Jacky would probably be 3 of them. More than anything though I’ll just think of the constant laughter and energy that surrounded him.
‘RIP big man. El x Sending out the biggest of hugs to the boys @skreamizm @jasperjames__ right now too.’

Jack (pictured in March 2012) fell in love with music at the age of 14 when he began working at Rubadub, a local record shop and became a DJ after gaining popularity in Glasgow clubs
The Glasgow native fell in love with music at the age of 14 when he began working at Rubadub, a local record shop.
‘I never had to buy any records again. So that was an obvious perk [of the job],’ Jack told Resident Advisor in a 2012 interview.
He gushed to the outlet at the time: ‘It was just little things like when promos would come in and you would have first dibs on them.
‘You’d maybe have to argue about it with one of the older buyers or whatever but you knew you could at least borrow it for a gig or borrow it for the weekend, and that for me was really invaluable.’
At 17, Jack was set on becoming a DJ after gaining popularity in Glasgow clubs.
Over the twenty-plus years he spent in the music industry, the decorated star earned the Breakthrough DJ Award at DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards in 2010. He was also known for his 2014 residency at BBC Radio.
Jack documented his final performance on Instagram on September 27.
