Michael C. Hall just can’t seem to outrun the killer within.
The Golden Globe winner, 53, was announced to return to the Dexter franchise in two upcoming series as he appeared on a panel Friday at San Diego Comic-Con.
He will reprise his titular role in the upcoming sequel series Dexter: Resurrection for Paramount+ with Showtime.
The show has received a straight-to-series order.
Hall will also join the cast of the prequel show Dexter: Original Sin as the inner voice of young Dexter, played by Patrick Gibson.

Resurrection will catch up with Dexter in present day, while Original Sin is set during his early police years in the ’90s.
‘We are thrilled to have the brilliant Michael C. Hall reprise his iconic role as Dexter Morgan in Showtime’s most successful series ever,’ said Paramount Global Co-CEO and President Chris McCarthy in a statement.
‘While Dexter: Resurrection will appeal to the tens of millions of longtime fans, Dexter: Original Sin will introduce a whole new generation of viewers into this iconic series by starting from the beginning, which is sure to satisfy existing audiences as well,’ he added.
A teaser for Original Sin was also debuted during Friday’s panel, recreating the original show’s opening sequence with Gibson, 29.
When the show was given a straight-to-series order at Showtime last year, the official synopsis said the show would ‘dramatize young Dexter Morgan at the outset of his transition into the avenging serial killer he would become.
‘Set in the Miami that was a hotbed of real serial killers of his time, the show will begin as Dexter graduates college to join Miami Metro, where he meets younger versions of many of the characters we came to know in the original Dexter.
‘And, of course, the show will also focus on Dexter’s family, including a very-much-alive Harry and a very formidable, teenage Deb.’
Last month, Patrick Dempsey and Sarah Michelle Gellar joined the cast of the prequel series, which also features Christian Slater and Christina Milian.
While production on Original Sin is still underway, the show is expected to premiere in December.

The sequel series was also announced along with the prequel, following ‘the ongoing emergence of Dexter’s son Harrison,’ who was previously revealed to be battling with his own Dark Passenger.
The show will see Harrison as he flees to New York City following the events of the Dexter: New Blood miniseries finale in 2022.
Hall starred in Showtime’s Dexter for its eight-season run from 2006 to 2013, playing the titular forensic investigator who moonlights as a vigilante serial killer, targeting the murderers who slipped through the justice system.
