Saoirse-Monica Jackson married Denis Sulta in a three-day Irish ceremony over the weekend – with a Scottish twist.

The Derry Girls star, 31, who went public their relationship in September 2021, tied-the-knot with the DJ, 32, at Dromquinna Manor, in County Kerry.

But to honour his roots, she wore an incredible reversible wedding gown with a tartan under layer.

‘We wanted both of our cultures and our families and friends to be at the centre of it,’ she told Vogue

In photos published in the magazine, she looked stunning in the custom dress by Annie Doble of Annie’s Ibiza.

Her gown featured a corsetted bodice with puffed sleeves and an asymmetric skirt with a dipped hem at the back – as well as a tartan twist which came as a surprise to Denis.

The couple became engaged in 2023, but didn’t announce the news until almost a year later.

Reflecting on the moment Denis got down on one knee, Saoirse added: ‘The best part was that he wrote everything down that he said to me.

‘As anyone who has been proposed to will tell you, you sort of just black out and leave your body, you don’t remember it, so I’m so glad I’ll always have those words, and that I’m able to read it back now.’

Fans of Derry Girls were left in disbelief when they first realised who the sitcom’s main star, Saoirse was dating.

The Northern Irish actress and the DJ’s relationship had not been one of common knowledge until a few years after they bean dating.

A tweet reading: ‘There are some random celebrity couples out there but Denis Sulta and Erin from Derry girls takes the cake,’ prompted several stunned replies from those who were clueless to their romance.

‘My head is gone. Why did i not know this,’ one reply read.

Saoirse, who plays Erin Quinn in Derry Girls, went public with their romance by sharing two cosy snaps from a Scottish getaway at Monachyle Mhor Hotel in September 2021.
