Denise Welch has assured fans she is very much still alive and well after finding herself at the centre of a death hoax on Sunday.
It was claimed the Loose Women panellist had died at the age of 65 after she was plowed down by Big Brother star Kerry Riches’ mobility scooter – before another rumour surfaced claiming Denise died from a case of explosive diarrhoea.
Kerry, who has multiple sclerosis (MS), was seen entering the Big Brother house on a mobility scooter in October when the reality show made a comeback on ITV2.
She regularly used the machine throughout the series and it was claimed the scooter was hijacked by her fellow former Big Brother housemate, make-up artist Farida Khalifa, who was the first contestant to be evicted from the house in the reboot series.
Denise’s Wikipedia page was updated at the weekend with a paragraph which read: ‘Denise Welch sadly was killed after being ran over by Kerry Riches mobility scooter after it was hijacked by a drunken rampage by Farida Khalifa hair and make up artist for the traveller and gypsy community.’

It was later edited with the claim: ‘In 2023, Welch died after a case of explosive diarrhoea.’
Meanwhile, it was also stated Denise was born on the Hollyoaks set in February this year despite the star leaving her role as Trish Minniver in the soap in January 2022, 13 months before Denise’s apparent birth.
Denise took to Twitter on Sunday evening to deny she was dead, assuring fans she was well and settling in at home to watch ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
She wrote: ‘I’m alive and well and about to watch the jungle. Thanks for your concern.’
Actress Denise was soon trending on social media with many users commenting to express their shock and amusement at the news.
One person wrote: ‘I have been off Twitter for 1 hour, how have i missed so much? As if someone added this to Denise Welch’s Wikipedia. FARIDA IS INNOCENT.’
While another relieved fan shared: ‘Good to hear Denise Welch hasn’t actually died of explosive diarrhoea!!’
Someone else recounted: ‘So I shouted into my mum’s room, “Guess who’s dead DENISE WELCH”. She shouted, “Whaaat? She was only on telly the other day god rest her soul”. Then I see in the comments Wikipedia got hacked and they said she died of diarrhoea.’

Referring to Denise’s son Matt Healy’s past romance with Taylor Swift, someone else wrote: ‘Denise Welch in 2023 was on course to be Taylor Swift’s Mother In Law and has now died on Twitter and come alive again. Now don’t get me wrong I don’t like the woman but let’s be fair this is highly impressive.’
‘I enter the cinema for about three hours and in the meantime Denise Welch has died and risen again. Alleluia alleluia, give thanks,’ joked someone else.
Another amused social media user wrote: ‘Whoever is editing Denise Welch’s Wikipedia page is having a ball. Apparently she was born on 31st February 2023 in the Hollyoaks set and she’s a presenter on Loose They/Them.’

While another person posted: ‘Denise Welch trending really had me thinking she was dead for a min.’
And someone else shared: ‘Whoever is editing Denise Welch’s Wiki page deserves an award. I don’t why, or what she did to deserve it & i know it’s juvenile, but I am highly entertained.’
While Denise did not die of explosive diarrhoea, she did recently recall the time she soiled herself in the streets of New York.
The television personality was asked to share her ‘most embarrassing’ moment and certainly didn’t hold back with her answer.
She told The Guardian: ‘S**tting myself in New York last November.’

The incident happened when she was on her way to see her son Matty Healy play at Madison Square Garden with his band The 1975.
She explained: ‘I was walking through the streets, enjoying the sunshine, pretending I was in some kind of video – throwing my hat into the New York sky like Mary Tyler Moore.’
However, she said a few people ‘turned and looked’ at her, continuing: ‘Now, although I’m not famous in New York, whenever Matty’s there I do get recognised as his mum, so I’m smiling and waving at them.’
But she discovered the truth when she returned to her hotel: ‘I got back to the hotel room and bent over to get something out of the suitcase, and my husband said, “Do you realise you’ve s**t yourself”?’
