Demi Moore: Tom Cruise ‘Embarrassed’ by Her Pregnancy Before A Few Good Men

When Demi Moore showed up to the first table read for A Few Good Men in 1991 while nearly eight months pregnant, her castmate Tom Cruise seemed visibly uncomfortable.

‘I think Tom was quite embarrassed,’ the 62-year-old Brat Packer recalled at the New Yorker Festival on Saturday – according to People.

‘I actually felt okay about it. I was moving around, though, right? But I could tell he felt that it was a bit awkward.’

Demi and the 63-year-old Mission: Impossible star began shooting their roles as JAG attorneys in Rob Reiner’s legal drama in October 1991 – just three months after she and second husband Bruce Willis welcomed their second daughter Scout.

‘I was going to be in a military uniform, and probably overly anticipated and started working out and trying to get in shape even before she was born,’ Moore – who was reportedly paid $2M – admitted.

‘I did a two-and-a-half-hour hike the day my water broke. I did a 24-mile bike ride, and then was dancing at a reggae club — hence why she came two-and-a-half weeks early.’

The Golden Globe winner now marvels at her ability to juggle ‘breastfeeding’ with ‘blocking and rehearsing a scene’ as Lieutenant Commander Joanne Galloway on the set of A Few Good Men.

‘It’s one of the many things, for me, that I just felt didn’t make sense. And so I challenged that to say, you know, “Why not? Why can’t you have both?”‘ Demi reflected onstage Webster Hall in Manhattan.

‘But with that, I think, came a lot of pressure I put on myself to, in a sense, prove that it was possible.’

The critically-acclaimed courtroom thriller, based on Aaron Sorkin’s 1989 Broadway play, earned four Oscar nominations and amassed $243.2M at the global box office from a $40M budget.

The ensemble cast also included Jack Nicholson, Kevin Bacon, Kevin Pollak, J. T. Walsh, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Kiefer Sutherland.

Moore (born Guynes) welcomed three daughters – Rumer, 37; Scout, 34; and Tallulah, 31 – during her 11-year marriage to the retired 70-year-old movie star, which amicably ended in 2000.

Tom (born Thomas Mapother IV) didn’t welcome children of his own until he and second wife Nicole Kidman adopted their 32-year-old daughter Bella in December 1992 after suffering a traumatizing miscarriage.
