Demi Moore has admitted it was refreshing to be ‘allowed to look bad’ in new body horror film The Substance during an appearance on The Graham Norton show.
The actress, 61, plays the role of Elisabeth Sparkle in the film, which aims to tackle the issue of impossible Hollywood beauty standards.
Demi discussed the film and her character on her first ever appearance on The Graham Norton Show, which returns to screens on Friday night.
The Ghost star was joined on the show by her canine companion Pilaf, a chihuahua who attends many of her public events with her.
Her little dog proved to be an instant hit with Lady Gaga, who was also on the show alongside Colin Farrell and Richard Ayoade.

Talking about the critically acclaimed film, she said: ‘It is almost impossible to fully describe because it is dealing with some serious subject matters.
‘The best way I can sum it up is that it is like The Picture of Dorian Gray meets Death Becomes Her meets a Jane Fonda workout video.’
Asked if it was liberating not to worry about what she looked like for the role she said: ‘I was very much pushed out of my comfort zone, but it was great to show up and be allowed to look bad!’
Elsewhere in the conversation, Demi reminisced about being nude on the cover of Vanity Fair when she was seven months pregnant with daughter Scout, she says, ‘It really was taken just for me but then I got the call to say they would like to use it. I said yes, never thinking it would have the impact it did.’
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga has lifted the lid on her engagement to fiancé Michael Polansky and revealed the couple had tried to keep the news a secret.
The singer, 38, let the cat out of the bag during the Olympics when she could be heard referring to the businessman, 46, as ‘my fiancé’ in a video shared by French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, after she performed at the Opening Ceremony.

‘[That] was hard, but he did it and was phenomenal. It was really fun and interesting to do and watching it back it may be the most vulnerable singing I have ever done.’

‘I’m so happy to be in love, and I’m so excited to have a family,’ she told BuzzFeed Canada on Thursday when asked about her 15-year goals. ‘So that’s definitely number one.’
The couple was first romantically linked around New Year’s Eve 2019 and later went Instagram official in early 2020.
Polansky is a 2006 graduate of Harvard University and runs Napster founder Sean Parker’s Parker Group.
Throughout their years dating, Gaga and Polansky have attended the Super Bowl, the BAFTAs, and the Critics Choice Awards together.
They reportedly decided to go their separate ways in early 2023 due to the singer-songwriter wanting marriage and children and the tech executive not being ready to take those steps.
