Richard Hammond steps out without his wedding ring after marriage split – as he films Workshop series and returns refurbished Mercedes to Debbie McGee

Richard Hammond seemed to be in high spirits on Friday as he filmed for a new series of his Workshop show by delivering back a fully refurbished Mercedes SL300 to its owner Debbie McGee.

The Top Gear presenter, 55, was noticeably not wearing his wedding ring following his split from his wife Amanda, also known as Mindy, in January after 28 years together.

The couple, who married in 2002, share daughters Isabella, 24, and Willow, 22, and it’s thought that newspaper columnist Mindy has asked to keep the £7million Bollitree Castle estate as part of their split settlement.

Despite the split being made public, Richard has continued to wear his wedding ring for outings, until now.

He cut a casual figure in a brown jacket and tan trousers as he got stuck into filming with TV and radio star Debbie, 65.

The 1980’s classic Mercedes bearing her own private plate 8 DEB was bought for her by magician husband Paul Daniels who passed away in 2016.

The car has had very little use in the last eight years and needed a lot of TLC to bring it back to its former glory.

The classic car was gleaming as Richard pulled onto Debbie’s driveway at her £3.5m riverside home that she shared with Paul.

The TV star was overjoyed and emotional when they keys to the £60,000 car were handed over by Richard as they filmed the scene for his new show.

Debbie was visibly shocked when she saw the refurbished car, as she stepped out sporting a white tracksuit and brown knee-high boots.

Richard looked equally elated as he pulled up on the driveway behind the wheel of the classic car.

In a statement on X announcing his split earlier this year, Richard said: ‘A little update from us; this Christmas we were together as a family and this year we will still be a family but just structured a bit differently.

‘Our marriage is coming to end, but we’ve had an amazing 28 years together and two incredible daughters.

‘We will always be in each other’s lives and are proud of the family we created.

‘We won’t be commenting further and sincerely hope that our privacy and that of our children will be respected at this time. With Love, Richard and Mindy.’

A source went on to tell The Sun: ‘Richard is very upset about all this. It seems he has tried hard to rekindle the relationship but to no avail.

‘There is no speculation that any third party is involved.’

Mindy and Richard bought the Grade II-listed Bollitree Castle in Herefordshire in 2008, and the estate boasts six bedrooms, a swimming pool and 20 acres of land.

It’s thought that the couple’s daughter Izzy still lives on the estate. She works alongside her dad at his garage and on their podcast Who We Are Now With Izzy And Richard Hammond.

The couple’s other daughter Willow, 22, reportedly lives separately in a rented home in Gloucestershire.

Richard married Mindy in 2002 after they first met back in 1995, with the presenter previously sharing that there was an instant attraction between them.

In late January, Richard acknowledged his ‘hideous traits’ and claimed that being a male TV presenter is ‘catastrophic for mental health’.

The former Top Gear presenter  pened up to his daughter Izzy on their joint podcast, weeks after his split from Mindy was made public.

The father-daughter duo were joined on the Who We Are Now podcast by Steve Jones – and the Welsh presenter’s presence inspired Richard to make the candid confession.

Richard said: ‘As a bloke, keeping your head straight, managing your mental fitness. I think being a television presenter, especially a male one, is catastrophic.’

Continuing on how his TV career has impacted him personally, Richard added: ‘For 36 years my male ego has been rewarded for some of the worst traits we can exhibit.

‘I’ve been encouraged to show off, I’ve been encourage to believe that what I’m about to say is compelling enough to hold the attention of 365million people that my questions are pertinent. It can be hideous.’

‘I’m perfect of course,’ the presenter joked, before he put on a wheezy voice and added: ‘Completely balanced and happy.’

F1 presenter Steve actually started out his career in modelling and was scouted on two occasions, and Richard compared the Welsh hunk’s good looks to his own.

‘I’d like to put something heavy in here,’ Richard began. ‘This is the sum of your roots, as a TV presenter and as a model, as somebody who was spotted twice then rejected.

‘I was a TV presenter when you started presenting, I saw him and thought “Oh bugger look at him, I mean look at him”. A bit of me was thinking “Yeah Welsh hunk, nobody has ever said brummy hunk Richard Hammond”.’

It came as he stepped out in London on Tuesday with his daughter Isabella, 24, after a visit to the Global radio offices.

Later in the episode, Steve spoke about how he likes to stay busy at which point Richard again referenced his looks.

‘I hate having nothing to do because a lot of what we do in TV presenting, I think, in my case, is compensatory,’ Richard said.

‘I am shorter, of course I’m shorter than you. Thank you nature.’

The comment appeared to come as a surprise to his daughter Izzy, who stepped in to ask: ‘Are you okay? Do you want to talk about it? You’re really revealing some stuff.’

Richard explained that his mentions of Steve’s attractiveness were because he was curious if Steve had ever worried that women only date him for his looks.

After Steve had left, Izzy readdressed the issue as the pair wrapped up the episode.

She said: ‘Do you want to talk about something? I don’t think you’re jealous of Steve but I think you’re quite upset that he’s a good looking man.’

‘Only because you can’t miss it when he walks in the room, it’s like “Oh look at you we’re the same species”,’ Richard said. ‘And if I was from another planet I’d think “Those are two different animals there”.’

Debbie McGee Reveals Why She Turned Down Omar Sharif at 21

Debbie McGee has revealed how she turned down Omar Sharif as a young woman after he spotted her in the BBC canteen.

The TV and radio star, 65, spoke on best’s Suddenly Single about why she turned down the famous Hollywood Lothario before finding love with her late husband Paul Daniels, who died of a brain tumour age 77 in 2016.

Debbie admitted that she was worried that Omar, who was 26 years her senior, only wanted to sleep with her and she turned him down because of her young age.

During her appearance on the podcast, Debbie spoke about how she generally isn’t approached by men, before revealing her past encounter with Omar, who died of a heart attack age 83 in 2015.

She said: ‘I don’t get approached. I don’t think I got approached once on Strictly. I think being on TV and being seen on Red Carpets does the opposite – it put people off. I don’t know why.

She said: 'Omar Sharif asked me out when I was 21 and I didn't go…it was at the BBC, and he was at the table next to us every day at lunch… I said I'd think about it. But I think I didn't because I was very young, and I just expected he'd want to sleep with me'

‘Since Paul died, I haven’t had that many offers…. if you’re looking you end up unhappy because you’re wanting something that you haven’t got.’

‘Most men want a young totty, and I am getting older. I’m not on dating apps or websites. I really believe if you look for love, you won’t find it…’

Debbit went on to say she did fancy at other men while married to her husband of almost 30 years, but said she only ever ‘looked at the menu’.

She said: ‘I don’t think I have a type. Men that I’ve fancied over the years, and when you’re married it’s OK to look at the menu, it’s all about someone’s personality and never about how they look. That’s why I think going on a dating app wouldn’t work for me.’

On finding love again as a widow, she said that while she loves Paul she has learned to enjoy life without him but would be open to romance in the future.

She said: ‘I’m very contented with my life so if I’m honest I’m a bit frightened of upsetting that applecart. I’m in a very good place. I still miss Paul loads but I’ve learned how to enjoy my life without him.’

‘I really believe that if you look for romance you won’t find it. It has to just happen.’

‘I’ve learned to be happy on my own and if the universe brings somebody to me, that will happen, but I’m not going to go on websites to find them.’

‘I do need someone that has got a zest for life – who wants to get up every day and enjoy it. Somebody who wants to sit and watch TV every day and do nothing is not the person for me.’

‘I’ve got lots of gay friends that I go out with…if people saw us in a restaurant, they’d probably think we are together.’

‘I have lots of flirtations with men and I go out for dinner and drinks, but I haven’t found anybody where we both felt this could be more than a friendship.’

‘I find most men open up to me…I have got lots of male friends and they say we tell you things we don’t tell other people.’

‘If you are looking, you will be unhappy. I’ve learnt to be happy on my own. It might happen but I’m not going on websites to find it.’

Debbie went on to discuss how men want a ‘young totty’ and how Paul waited for years to date her hoping the press would be less harsh about their 20-year age gap.

She said: ‘When I met Paul, I didn’t know who he was. And I hated magicians, well I hated magic. We were married for 30 years and together for 9 years (before that).’

‘Paul thought I was far too young and kept saying ‘go and meet someone your own age’. So I had to do a lot of chasing. We had an instant chemistry and made each other laugh.’

‘For a long time, he’d take me out to dinner but say no, you’re too young for me. I had other boyfriends, and he had other girlfriends. When I got to about 27, I’d become very independent, had bought my own flat and was working in Europe, I think he suddenly thought I’m going to lose her. But he always said you’d got a bit older; I thought the press wouldn’t be so tough on us.’

‘He (Paul) had a girlfriend at the time and he said if I finish with her, would you be prepared to have a relationship? I said ‘finish with her and we’ll see!’

More Celebrities Contemplate Legal Action as Crisis for Giovanni Pernice on Strictly Come Dancing Intensifies Following BBC Investigation Into His Actions Prior to Departing Show

Giovanni Pernice could face more mounting trouble as ‘at least one or two more celebrities are considering legal action’ against him.

According to The Sun, several women who have danced with the 33-year-old Italian on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing are contemplating joining the three existing claimants in a Beeb investigation for ‘serious workplace misconduct claims’.

Among the trio are Laura Whitmore, 39, who was Giovanni’s 2016 dance partner, and Amanda Abbington, 52, who recently revealed that Giovanni stepped on her during training, prompting her to leave the show in October.

A source disclosed that several former dance partners of Giovanni’s have been communicating privately and suggested that even more names could come forward.

The source went on to say that the future is unclear for the professional dancer, who vehemently denies any claims of threatening or abusive behaviour and has vowed to ‘clear his name.’

They revealed: ‘Numerous celebrities, all former partners of Gio’s, have been in contact with one another behind the scenes.

‘Three women that we know of have come forward, and taken things a step further with legal action.

‘But Carter Ruck, the prestigious firm acting on behalf of these stars, have quietly been speaking to one or two other potential claimants. In other words, more names could come out of the woodwork.’

The fresh claims come after the professional dancer reportedly quit Strictly after the scrutiny became ‘too much’.

Off the back of Giovanni’s departure, friends close to Amanda have spoken about how she found the pro dancer ‘abrasive’ and would have to have ‘crisis talks’ with show bosses every week after being left in floods of tears at his ‘tough’ training method with claims it left her ‘bruised’.

Amanda, who dramatically withdrew from last year’s competition and was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after the show, is said to have met with Laura Whitmore and Ranvir Singh, 46, earlier this year for an ’emotional summit’ to ‘compare notes’ about their time working with him.

Giovanni shared a post to Instagram detailing that he was ‘totally surprised’ by the allegations, which he denies.

He said in a statement: ‘You will be as surprised as I am that allegations have been made about my dance teaching methods in the media this week.
