Dear White People Star Jeremy Tardy Ties the Knot with Tamika Waye in Extravagant ‘Modern Royal Affair’ Wedding, Three Years in the Making

Jeremy Tardy, 33, and his bride Tamika Waye finally walked down the aisle and said I do.

The couple got engaged in 2019 and planned to marry in 2020 but like so many others, had to postpone their wedding due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But on October 29, the love birds finally got their big day at the Park Chateau Estate and Gardens in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

‘Finally being able to have our wedding ceremony and reception was a huge milestone for us,’ Tardy – who left his show Dear White People over racial discrimination – told People.

Waye’s biggest wish for her wedding day was to be surrounded by family and friends – hence the long delay.

‘It was important to us that all of our guests would have a memorable and enjoyable experience at our wedding,’ he added ‘Every detail was planned with that in mind.’

And the couple went all in on their wedding with the theme of a ‘modern royal affair’ which included former French gardens and a gilded ballroom at the venue.

The ceremony and reception were decorated with candelabras, gold mirrored tables and Baccarat glassware.

The floral arrangements featured roses, hydrangeas and orchids with greens and amaranthus.

While Waye had a clear vision for how she wanted her wedding to look, finding the dress of her dreams proved to be more challenging.

‘I felt like I tried on every good dress that existed in New York City and Los Angeles, and nothing quite felt like ‘the one,” she said.

‘But once I started working with bridal stylist Selina Howard of Vainglorious Brides, I was able to hone in on my preferred look for the wedding,’ she continued.

The bride fell in love with a strapless corset dress with a sweetheart neckline and a full detachable skirt, which she removed when she danced to reveal a beaded mermaid gown beneath it.

‘The wedding surpassed anything I had dreamed of. I was in bliss,’ Tardy gushed.

The couple first met at a BET after party in 2018 and chatted but went their separate ways without exchanging numbers.

But fate intervened and weeks later they ran into each other at a mutual friend’s house party.

The exchanged numbers that time and soon began dating. He proposed with a vintage Cartier ring in December 2019.

‘I admire Tamika’s intelligence, classiness and work ethic. She’s one of the smartest people I know and she makes my life better,’ he gushed.
