Davina McCall has explained why she refuses to act or dress her age and revealed that the new series of My Mum, Your Dad made her cry.
Series two of ITV’s My Mum, Your Dad will air sometime in September and it follows middle-aged single parents looking to find love again – with their children watching their every move.
Ahead of its return, Davina, 56, spoke about what she has in common with the contestants and recalls a particularly touching moment from the new series.
Davina told The Mirror: ‘Our age group, we are the first of a new generation of midlifers. We are the people that were at the raves, taking drugs, we’re pioneers. We were naughty, we were fun, we were outrageous – and then we had kids.
‘We settled down, we were good people for 18 years and now we’re thinking: ‘Right, let’s go again.” It’s like having a second chance at life, and we’re making the kids watch that second chance.’

In one episode, Malachi, 19, will tell his mother Jenny, 51, how much he appreciates all she had done for him over the years.
Davina said of the moment: ‘I did get caught having a big cry. And I’ve seen it already. There’s something very moving. It was like I said to the parents about their kids: “They’re not here for a laugh. They’re not taking the mickey out of you.”‘
While the format at of the programme remains the same, there will be an addition.
Because their children are watching, contestants were reluctant to get to physical. But, series two will feature a secret sex dungeon – with the option to turn the lights off.
My Mum, Your Dad launched in 2023, was touted to be the middle-aged version of Love Island.
Series two was confirmed in October but an exact release date has not yet been announced.
In the first trailer for the upcoming series, some of the cast break down in tears as they watch a particularly heartfelt moment between two of the parents.
Meanwhile, things look set to get very steamy as two of the parents indulge in a steamy kiss in the bedroom – much to the horror of their grown-up kids.
The cast consists of Christian and his son Lucas; David, and his daughter Tiana; Maria and daughter Livia; Andy and daughter Issy; Davina, Clare and daughter Aimee; Vicky and daughter Angharad; Jenny and her son Malachi; and Danny and his son Ellis.
It remains to be seen who couples up with who, with the series returning to screens this September.
My Mum, Your Dad will air on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
