To some he’s the flamboyant former mayor of Geelong, to others the pink haired paparazzo with a penchant for implanted abdominals.
But while he lost his mayoral seat in the Australian city eight years ago, Darryn Lyons proved old habits die hard in a series of recent Instagram posts.
The entrepreneur gained notoriety in the United Kingdom after revealing a set of perfectly chiselled, and completely fake, abdominal muscles while appearing on Celebrity Big Brother in 2011.
And Lyons, 58, confirmed the silicon six-pack was still present and correct as he stripped off his shirt for an Instagram video in July.
Instead of regular gym visits, Lyons, a former professional celebrity photographer, had fat removal surgery in 2009 to achieve his washboard six-pack.

The then pink-haired housemate confided in co-star Paddy Doherty and bared his torso in the bedroom to reveal the transformation.
Talking about the procedure, Lyons said: ‘I had contouring done to my body.
‘I had to get really fit and lose a fair bit of weight. It takes away all the fat around it and actually lets your natural abs be there.
‘Basically it’s the male version of a boob job.’
An impressed Paddy called Lyons’ new look ‘the bees knees’, as photographer Lyons added: ‘I’m over the moon with it.’
Lyons previously admitted the cosmetic surgery means his often needs to fine tune his physique.
‘My problem is that all the fat keeps pushing the abs out,’ he told Daily Mail Australia in 2018.
‘I’m looking more like a Ninja Turtle these days than a ripped, spartan specimen.’

Following his appearance on Celebrity Big Brother, Lyons’ photo agency went into administration after 20 years of selling paparazzi shots to some of the world’s largest magazines and newspapers, with Mr Lyons finding himself idle again.
So his head turned to politics, a far cry from the career path he had taken up aged 22 when he moved to London to start his long-stint as a photographer, according to Bay 93.9.
Moving back to his hometown of Geelong, where his Baptist parents still lived and he had attended Geelong East Technical School, Lyons ran for mayor and won in 2013.
The Victorian government later dismissed the former photographer and the Greater Geelong City Council after a Commission of Inquiry found that the council was riven with conflict.
