Danny DeVito has revealed he is planning a new original movie with Twins star Arnold Schwarzenegger – after their onstage reunion at the 2024 Oscars.
DeVito, 79, and Schwarzenegger, 76, sparked speculation of a sequel to the iconic 1988 film in which they played fraternal twin brothers when they united at the ceremony – but DeVito announced plans for a new project starring the pair.
Speaking to Fox News Digital this week, the star said:’Mr Schwarzenegger, he’s like my buddy, we’re trying to do another movie together.
‘There’s a script being written, we’re working with Warner Brothers right now, we want to get back on the big screen together
‘It won’t be a sequel, Ivan [Reitman who directed Twins] is no longer with us.

Schwarzenegger and DeVito costarred in 1988’s Twins, which featured the actors playing genetically engineered siblings who don’t meet until adulthood
‘I knew Arnold before twins, I’d see him once in a while, we’re looking forward to getting back on the screen together
‘So next year, fingers crossed, we’ll be back in production with something
‘We always have a good time together, he’s a sweet guy.’
The pair took to the Oscars stage on Sunday night to present the award for best visual effects, which went to Godzilla: Minus One.
Although fans went wild over the Twins reunion, the pair were actually uniting as former Batman villains – Schwarzenegger portrayed Mr. Frieze in Batman & Robin, which starred George Clooney’s Batman and DeVito took on the role of The Penguin in Batman Returns.
Schwarzenegger and DeVito shared the screen in the 1988 film Twins, portraying genetically engineered siblings who only cross paths in adulthood. This marked Schwarzenegger’s first stab at a comedic role, and it proved a huge success at the box office.
The iconic stars were involved in a long-in-the-works sequel to Twins called Triplets, where the brothers would discover that they’re actually triplets.
There were reports suggesting Eddie Murphy would be joining the cast of the sequel, and more recently, Tracy Morgan was reportedly set to take on the new role.

However, the project was put on hold after the original film’s director, Ivan Reitman, passed away at age 75 in February 2022.
Ivan’s son and Hollywood heavyweight director, Jason Reitman, was then pitched the film but, according to Schwarzenegger, he was the one to give it the red light.
‘Jason Reitman literally stopped the project when his father died,’ Schwarzenegger told The Hollywood Reporter in May.
‘His father wanted to do it really badly. I wanted to do it really badly. Danny DeVito wanted to do it really badly,’ he continued.
‘We had the financing. When his father passed away, Jason says, “I never liked the idea’ and put a hold on it.”‘

Schwarzenegger mentioned that he is currently ‘working on another film with Danny’ and went on to say, ‘He’s a joy to collaborate with, and his talent is remarkable.’
During an interview with GQ in November about his role in I Need That, DeVito playfully suggested that Schwarzenegger ‘might have opted for Twins 2 instead of entering politics as governor’.
The True Lies vet took a break from acting during his stint as California’s governor from 2003 to 2011.
