Dannii Minogue has finally addressed rumours she is set to represent Australia at Eurovision 2024 after sending fans wild with a cryptic post.
The singer, 52, sparked speculation she could be representing her home nation at the annual song contest after re-sharing a snap of host country Sweden’s eye-catching stage.
Dannii finally spoke about the rumours during an appearance on KIIS 1065’s Kyle & Jackie O Show, where she also promoted her new track Thinking About Us.
Dashing fans’ hopes, she insisted her post wasn’t hinting at her involvement in the contest.
Laughing off the rumours, she said: ‘Oh my gosh, it’s the weirdest thing. It’s not like I can’t say anything – all I did was respond to a text from Eurovision because I’m a massive fan. That’s all that has happened!

‘No, not like a text message, it was like “Eurovision is back” just on social media and I was like “Yes! The countdown has begun”.’
When asked if she would ever consider representing Australia at Eurovision in the future, Dannii shared her doubts about her ‘confidence’ to take to the stage at the extravaganza.
‘I don’t know that I would have the, I don’t know, the strength to get through it. It’s such a physical… like I saw Dami do it when Kate did it, she’s bending around on this poll! Guys, I’m like, I am 52! I can’t do that! I’m not a JLo at Super Bowl,’ she insisted.
‘It’s a confidence thing and definitely that is not there for me in my future at the moment, but I love it that Australia is involved, and I love it that we get to showcase our incredible artists globally and then I go back to London and then everybody’s talking about these Australian artists that they wouldn’t have known before.’
Dannii sent Eurovision fans into a frenzy in December after sharing a social media post about the 2024 final, which will be held in Malmo, Sweden.
She re-shared a snap of Sweden’s stage and wrote that the ‘countdown’ had started, with her fans becoming convinced she was hinting that she would be Australia’s 2024 entry.
Dannii wrote alongside her tweet: ‘The stage is set…and the countdown has begun!’
The post sparked a flurry of responses from excited Eurovision fans, questioning whether she would be representing Australia at the competition.

One wrote: ‘Omg… is Dannii representing Australia?’ while another added: ‘Wait… WHATS HAPPENING.’
A third tweeted: ‘Ahhh glad to see you have the @Eurovision bug after #Liverpool,’ while one posted: ‘Does this mean Minogues are representing Aussies in Eurovision?! Fingers crossed.’
SBS are yet to reveal who they will send to Sweden as Australia’s entry for the 2024 contest.
Last year, Australia competed at Eurovision – hosted in Liverpool by the United Kingdom on behalf of Ukraine – with the track Promise.
The song was performed by Voyager and was written by Alex Canion, Ashley Doodkorte, Daniel Estrin, Scott Kay, and Simone Dow, and saw Australia rank in ninth place with 151 points.
Dannii’s post came days after it was revealed that Olly Alexander will be representing the UK at Eurovision 2024.
The Years & Years frontman, 33, made the announcement during the live final of Strictly Come Dancing as the audience cheered along.
He told The BBC after the official announcement: ‘I’m scared, but I’m excited. I’ve wanted to do this for a really, really long time. It’s all a bit of a blur.

‘I mean, it wasn’t gonna be a ballad. Or maybe it could have been a ballad. I love a ballad. Am I saying too much now? It’s not a ballad.
‘I wrote the song with Danny Harle, and it’ll be coming next year. And it’s really good.
‘That’s definitely the vibe. It’s gonna be electronic, something you can dance to. But yeah, I can’t say much more than that.’
The UK will automatically qualify for next year’s Eurovision final, which will take place in Malmo on May 11, after Sweden’s Loreen was crowned the winner back in May.
