Danielle Fishel has shared an update following her breast cancer diagnosis, which she revealed in August.
The 43-year-old Boy Meets World star successfully underwent two lumpectomies, which have removed the cancer.
The actress told Today, ‘There is no evidence of disease, so the surgery was successful and got the cancer out of my body.’
She added, ‘But they call cancer a journey for a reason. It’s not just walk in and have even one procedure and then you’re done.’
The former child star opted for a lumpectomy rather than a double mastectomy so that she could recover faster and get back to work.

She noted that she doesn’t have genetic markers that would’ve made her a candidate for a double mastectomy.
Danielle said, ‘I got my diagnosis on July 22, and I started meeting with doctors that last week of July, and was like, “How can I still be at work on [August 21]?”
‘I’ve worked many years to get this opportunity to direct these five episodes of Lopez vs. Lopez that start on [August 21]. I want to get back to my normal life as quickly as possible. How do I do that?’
With the lumpectomy behind her, the entertainer will start a hormone therapy pill and possibly undergo radiation.
She is being ‘constantly monitored’ by medical professionals, which includes regular mammograms and the potential of annual MRI.
Fishel told the publication, ‘I was so lucky that I found my cancer so early because I went and had my annual mammogram on time.
‘I was thinking, like, “Great. I caught it early. I can be done with this soon.” But there really is no “done with it.” And so that has been an emotional and mental process.’
There were just two millimeters of cancer at the time of her diagnosis, which she explained was most likely too small to be detected manually.
Danielle shares sons Adler, five, and Keaton, three, with husband Jensen Karp, whom she wed in 2018.
When it came to telling her spouse about her diagnosis, she said she worried about telling him because both of his parents died of lung cancer.
And instead of explaining her cancer to their young kids, she said she told them she was undergoing surgery and would have a ‘boo boo’ after, which meant ‘I’m not going to be able to wrestle with you or pick you up or swing you around, and you’re going to have to hug me a little gently.’
