Dakota Johnson called Taylor Swift the ‘most powerful person in America’ during her opening monologue on Saturday Night Live this weekend.
The actress, 34, took on the hosting role for her second time on Saturday and took the opportunity to praise Taylor, 34, while poking fun at Donald Trump.
During her monologue, Dakota explained she had last hosted on the show in 2015 for the 40th Anniversary Special.
She said: ‘The last time I hosted was right after the SNL 40th. I was actually in the audience for that special.’
As she spoke a photo appeared on screen showing her standing in the star-studded audience for the celebratory special.

Dakota then pointed out the VIPs around her, saying: ‘Look at this photo, look at this collection of people: Sarah Palin, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg.’
She then added: ‘And look who’s sitting right behind me,’ with the camera zooming in to show former president Donald, 77, in the audience.
She continued: ‘Crazy to be standing so close to someone who would become the most powerful person in America,’ as the camera quickly moved down to zoom in on Taylor Swift sitting in front of Dakota.
The audience broke into laughter and even cheered at the Fifty Shades of Grey star’s joke.
Elsewhere in her monologue, Dakota reflected on starring opposite the musical guest for the evening, Justin Timberlake, in The Social Network back in 2010.
Upon hearing his name, the singer suddenly appeared on stage, sneaking up to Dakota as she continued to speak, unaware of his presence.
He said: ‘I remember those days, Dakota,’ causing her to jump and ask: ‘Justin, what are you doing up here? Are you lost?’
He said: ‘I heard my name. I thought that was my cue.’

He said: ‘Was it that long?’ with Dakota replying: ‘Well, I mean, either way, I’m so happy you chose my show for your comeback.’
‘Is that what we’re calling it?’ Justin asked, but Dakota assured him that she meant comeback ‘in a good way.’
Suddenly, former SNL cast member, Jimmy Fallon, appeared on the stage, causing the crowd to applaud at his surprise cameo.
Dakota also promoted her upcoming Marvel film, Madame Web, and joked about her interviews constantly hitting the headlines.
