Cursed or Calculated? Celebrity Dramas and Reality Shows: Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay’s Engagement Party

Reality TV can be a huge boost for a celebrity’s career, creating household names and reviving careers.

It offers a spotlight unlike any other by turning everyday moments into entertainment gold.

But there’s a pattern that seems to follow every new series.

Just as the cameras start rolling, family feuds ignite, relationships wobble, and personal drama suddenly erupts.

Whether it’s a coincidence or simply the pressure of having their lives on display, many stars have found that their on-screen opportunity quickly morphs into off-screen chaos.

Here, the Daily Mail looks at the moments when reality TV ended up costing its stars far more than they bargained for.

Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty’s family feud

As their wedding draws nearer, Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay have seen their upcoming nuptials blighted by their ongoing family feud.

But fans may still get a chance to see the happy couple celebrating with Adam’s relatives, as the engagement party they threw last year will reportedly feature in Gordon Ramsay ‘s Netflix documentary.

After the Olympian, 30, popped the question to the influencer, 26, in September last year, they celebrated their engagement with a lavish bash in December, with the Ramsay clan and Adam’s now-estranged mother Caroline, in attendance.

It’s now been claimed that the festive party was filmed at the time as part of Gordon’s fly-on-the-wall docuseries, Being Gordon Ramsay.

The celebrity chef, 59, was filmed over nine months as he opened five new restaurants in London, alongside juggling his personal life.

The engagement party will see the Holly and Adam with his family during happier times, before their toxic fallout occurred and he disinvited all but one of his relatives from the wedding.

But according to The Sun, the cracks were already starting to show at the time, with Caroline having several grievances at the party.

A source told the publication: ‘Adam’s family were at the engagement party, when relations were much better. Things went downhill from there.

‘His mum was unhappy some of the family weren’t there and confronted Gordon at the event.

‘Guests were made to sign non-disclosure agreements and hand in phones as the party was filmed.’

Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Adam and Holly for comment.

Adam and Holly are set for a Christmas wedding spectacular, where they will exchange vows at Bath’s historic Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, before embarking on festive drinks.

However, Adam left jaws dropping earlier this month when it was revealed he had uninvited his relatives from his wedding, after his mother was not invited to Holly’s swanky hen do.

The astonishing family feud kicked off after news arose that Adam’s mother was not invited to Holly’s hen do, where she was joined by her mum Tana, Adam’s sister Bethany and Victoria Beckham at Soho Farmhouse.

In the wake of the snub, a number of stories of strife unravelled, with shock claims on each side about the fallout – including allegations that Holly and Adam made Caroline chose a different outfit for the wedding as they did not like her choice.

And a devastated Caroline took to her Instagram at the weekend to made a heartbreaking comment to the swimmer, as the family feud rumbles on.

In a nod to her heartache, she shared a poignant message about family and the festive period, in which she referenced parents and what they did for their children.

The note read: ‘I don’t remember every gift I opened when I was 5, 6, or even 10. I remember the smell of the kitchen. The glow of the lights…

‘The way love felt louder in December. It wasn’t the presents it was the presence of my parents who did everything they could to make the magic happen’.

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash’s relationship dramas

It's alleged that Stacey Solomon has regrets over how much she shared of her and Joe's relationship issues

It’s alleged that Stacey Solomon has regrets over how much she shared of her and Joe’s relationship issues

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash reportedly regretted their reality series.

The pair flung opened the doors of their beloved home, Pickle Cottage, for cameras to film a ‘Kardashians-style’ TV show focused on their family life.

But it was reported Stacey wished she hadn’t agreed to take part in her new reality TV series, after the show was met by some criticism.

The series has been hit with a mixed reception, with some claiming it wasn’t their cup of tea while others enjoyed the ‘wholesome’ content of the show.

The show follows the couple juggling their careers with raising their children Rex, five, Rose, three, and Belle, two, and Stacey’s sons Zachary, 17, and Leighton, 12, from previous relationships.

And Stacey and Joe – who tied the knot in 2022 – have been insistent on showing both the ups and the downs, explaining that they weren’t ‘trying to portray a glamorous lifestyle’.

However, according to The Sun, the TV presenter is having some serious regrets about being so open, following some negative reactions from viewers.

A source said: ‘Stacey is regretting signing up to do the show. She’s not used to the backlash they are getting as everything she touches normally turns to gold.

It is alleged that Stacey is concerned about how she and Joe are coming across in their arguments, with Joe’s lack of time management and ADHD struggles clashing with Stacey’s love of extreme organisation.

A friend told the publication: ‘She feels like she is coming across as bossy. He can’t manage anything without her, so she is forced to be the ‘grown up’. It’s caused friction.

One episode saw Stacey devastated by Joe not showing up at an important meeting, leaving her juggling caring for the babies while trying to plan the launch of her own perfume.

Despite begging him not to let her down beforehand, the EastEnders star is five hours late after going fishing with his friends.

Speaking to OK! ahead of their show, Stacey and Joe revealed viewers will get to witness them arguing on camera, explaining it was important to them not to cut out rows like other couples would be tempted to.

Joe said: ‘So many people represent their lives as being so perfect on Instagram. It’s our responsibility to show the real – the highs and the lows. It’s not all a bed of roses. Sometimes we argue.’

While Stacey added: ‘What you see is what you get. What we’ve learnt about each other is that we’re not a perfect couple. We’ve never said we’re a perfect couple, but you get to watch yourself back, which is something that doesn’t happen often.’

The pair also explained how watching their ‘bickering’ back helps them learn about their faults and where the other is coming from, with them saying it’ been more effective that couples’ therapy.

Princess Andre’s feud with mum Katie Price

Princess Andre had a reported feud with her mum Katie Price after she was banned from appearing in her daughter’s ITV2 series The Princess Diaries earlier this year.

During series one, dad Pete Andre was filmed supporting Princess as she learned to drive and delivering an emotional speech at her 18th birthday party, an event Katie claimed she was excluded from.

The Princess Diaries, which has been renewed for two new seasons, also showed the teen at home with her family, including stepmother Emily, while Katie appeared only via a voice recording.

Katie vented her fury over being snubbed from Princess’s first-ever reality show during an angry outburst on her podcast.

The former glamour model was responding to claims that she was damaging her daughter’s growing image due to her well-documented personal problems, including drug and alcohol addiction, drink-driving arrests, and multiple bankruptcies.

Katie said: ‘I want the best for Junior and Princess, and I would never get in the way of it.

‘But what hurt my feelings, and it does upset me, is when your kids grow up, you go to their assemblies, you go to their Christmas things, you go to their awards, you go to their football matches or gymnastics, you’re involved in everything they do.

‘And knowing that, what my career has been, Princess is taking that same path, trying to do the same as what I’ve done, which I absolutely love and adore Princess.’

‘But I have not been allowed to go on any photo shoot, no signings or Superdrug openings or anything like that. Why? Because I’m not allowed and I’m not welcome.

‘And it puts Princess in a situation because I don’t want her to feel she has to choose between me and her work because I want her to do well.

‘And I have said to Princess, just see how it feels for me because I should be there supporting you, I want to be there to support you like my family did. And I’m your mum, and especially as you’re doing stuff that I did, I’m proud of you and want to be there.’

Pete and Katie, who share Junior and Princess, were married for four years before splitting up in May, 2009, with their divorced finalised later that year.

Since their breakup, when Junior was aged four and Princess was two, Peter has gone onto marry doctor Emily, and the couple share children Amelia, Theo, and Arabella.

Katie pinned the blame firmly on Pete and his management team, who once represented her during her marriage to the singer, for blocking her involvement with the show.

She added: ‘But unfortunately, the management team and Pete, won’t allow me to be near here. They have made it clear, they won’t allow Princess to do photoshoots with me, they won’t allow me to go to any events with Princess because they think I am trash basically.

‘Now, everyone knows she’s my daughter. So, what difference does it make? Like if it wasn’t for me or Pete, Princess and Junior wouldn’t be known anyway. And I find it an insult as I’ve been in the industry for 30 years.’

She added that there was no one better suited to guide Princess in this journey.

Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury’s split

Molly-Mae Hague shot to fame with her partner Tommy Fury on Love Island in 2019.

The pair had a temporary break this year, which Tommy later stated was caused by his alcohol problem.

At the same time, Molly-Mae released her documentary Behind It All which gave an insight into the current state of her relationship with Tommy.

While the influencer, 25, shared her hopes of one day reuniting as a family, the second part of the Prime Video series highlights some glaring issues.

For one, Molly is candid about the strain rekindling with Tommy has put on her relationship with her sister Zoe, 28, who admits she fears it will all end in tears again.

Zoe quizzed Molly on whether the couple have truly addressed their relationship issues, which they previously revealed was down to Tommy drinking to excess.

Molly made a pointed jibe about Tommy’s drinking in the first few minutes of the third episode, while looking back on videos from happier times.

Playing an old clip of the couple on holiday together before their welcomed daughter Bambi, two, Molly can be heard saying ‘I’m sure Tommy will have a few Courvoisier [Cognac] and lemonades’, as they head on a night out.

In a dig that appears to be about his boozy antics, Molly says: ‘That sounds about right!’

Molly and Tommy, who got engaged in summer 2023, are clearly getting on well during the time of filming as she is seen FaceTiming him from a Beauty Works content trip in Switzerland.

When Tommy picked up the phone, Molly asks if he wants to see the breathtaking view of the mountains she is looking at, but he sweetly replies: ‘No I quite like the view I’m looking at, I’d like to see that view for eternity.’

Reflecting on their romance, she tells viewers: ‘How we are right now is why I’ve held on to the idea of us because I know just how amazing we can be. We’re doing really well at the minute and the version of who he is, is one of the best I’ve seen.

‘Maybe if this goes on, the days turn into weeks and weeks into months and before you know it we’ve had years of being this consistent, amazing couple.’

At the end of the call they can be heard discussing an upcoming getaway together as Molly tells him to book the trip away for them.

As they conclude the call Molly tells Tommy she loves him and says goodbye, however their conversation ends before he says it back.

Molly then calls him back to tell him off for not saying I love you too, before they exchange the words of affection and hang up again.

Once dubbed the ‘UK’s answer to the Kardashians’, the Essex family moved to Los Angeles to film their The Only Way Is Essex spin-off.

Chloe, 43, Frankie, 30, Demi, 28, their brother Charlie, 33, and his fiancée Georgia Shults, also 33, landed their own reality show called the House Of Sims in 2023.

However, only a couple of series in a big brawl between the sisters played out on-screen and led to Demi and Frankie jetting back to the UK and removing all traces of their siblings off Instagram.

In 2024, Demi explained that the argument stemmed from admin and money.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, she said: ‘My side was that there was an argument over the Wi-Fi bill because we all needed our names of the bill to get credit to live in LA…

‘Charlie, Chloe and Georgia all went out to put their names on and me and Frankie were left in the dark a little bit. Me, Charlie, Chloe and Frankie were all paying evenly for this house and Georgia wasn’t paying…

‘We felt like “why is Georgia getting the credit and we’re not?” So that’s what it came from, which I feel was a fair argument.’

Telling her side of the story, the TV star remarked when her sister Frankie, 28, and Charlie, 31, had the argument she did ‘try to stay out of it’ despite the argument involving her too.

Yet the quarrels increased tensions between the siblings, at which point some ‘teams’ within the family where formed.

‘But in the end they had already formed a team, so I obviously did take Frankie’s side because it was morally wrong,’ Demi said.

‘So that is my side, I’m a fair person and I’ll always say what’s wrong and what’s right and in my eyes that wasn’t right.’

Rob and Blac’s relationship with documented in their spin-off Rob & Chyna

Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna began dating in January 2016, with them announcing their engagement after three months in an Instagram post.

Their rollercoaster relationship has been the subject of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and their spin-off reality show Rob & Chyna.

Their series was E! network’s most-watched unscripted launch in 2016 despite critics calling it ‘painfully dull.’

In an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, it showed the famous family in crisis after Rob admitted he had moved out following a blazing row with Blac.

‘I’m out of her house and we’re not living together,’ he told sister Khloe when she called.

‘Honestly I’m so over it. If I don’t care then that’s exactly where she wants me to be and I’m completely content with that. And I’m just preparing myself.

’I’m not doing nothing wrong. I’m doing exactly what she wants.

‘So I don’t know what I need to do. It’s just a lot of s**t. I don’t know. I just don’t.’

Although the expectant parents had reunited by the end of the episode, the scenes were filmed just before Khloe’s 32nd birthday in late June 2016 – a month before they are thought to have split following another terrible fight, some captured on their new reality show.

In October 2016, it was reported that the pair were living in separate houses due to the ‘volatile’ nature of their relationship.

Their daughter Dream was born in November 2016. Despite a brief reconciliation, the couple split at the end of that year.

Blac was seen without her engagement ring in February 2017.
