Fans have slammed Simone Anderson and other influencers for indulging in an all expenses junket to one of New Zealand’s most exclusive destinations in the midst of a cost of living crisis.
A small number of trendsetters were treated by cosmetics giant Elizabeth Arden to the trip which included luxury accommodation at the Bay of Islands’ Eagles Nest.
The resort is known for its sky-high prices, including one package worth $10,000 a night.
The backlash came after the Outspoken podcast posted details of the trip to their Instagram.
The post used images from the junket shared by Anderson including pictures inside the private jet used for air travel, complimentary packages, and a Moet champagne ‘welcome’ gift.

Former star of The Voice Australia, singer Sarah Browne, was among those expressing concern.
‘I don’t why it [the trip] would entice anyone to buy from the brand,’ she messaged.
‘It’s smug and snobby. What benefit does this extortionate display of wealth have on the general public.’

‘I find it [the trip] out of touch,’ another follower added.
‘Would much rather it be a competition for people to win who really need some time away. Mums, carers, emergency workers. I’s love to watch some regular mums test some, get treated and walk out with a big bag of goodies to take home. Much more relatable too.’
Several followers singled out the inclusion of controversial influencer Simone Anderson, 33, in the trip as a ‘negative’.
Fans responded with negative comments over the influencers’ trip
‘It’s a no from me,’ explained one user and continued: I think given cost of living, climate change, genocide, etc, it’s tone deaf. Throw in the Simone Anderson factor and it’s a hard no from me.’
Anderson, who rose to fame after shedding 92kgs, has a history of reprimands from the Advertising Standards Authority after failing to disclose paid content in her posts.
Another follower felt influencer junkets were now hopelessly out of date as a way of enticing consumers.
‘This just feels so 2016,’ they wrote.

‘I don’t think people are impressed by influencer brand trips anymore. Plus it’s such lazy marketing. Do better.’
Meanwhile, Anderson celebrated her trip by posting video and selfies to her Instagram, including a short clip of herself ‘dancing’ aboard the private jet.
‘This location has been on my bucket list for years. I feel incredibly honoured to be here right now. No words,’ she caption her post.
