Craig Revel Horwood Faces Neighbour Dispute Over Renovation Noise at £1.8M Mansion

Craig Revel Horwood is said to be in a row with his neighbours as they claim there’s ‘excessive noise’ at his countryside mansion.

The Strictly judge, 60, has sought planning permission to raise his back garden by building a terrace around the pool area at the £1.8million property.

However, he’s been met with backlash from neighbours, who claim there’s already ‘excessive noise’ coming from the pool parties he hosts at the pad.

Craig was also forced to call in the Environment Agency after he experienced flooding in his garden.

It occurred when he started demolishing walls and digging foundations during previous renovation works.

As part of his new application, Craig also plans to carry out flood compensation works.

According to The Sun, one neighbour objected to the proposed works in a letter, which read: ‘Without vegetation along their low wall, there is already excessive noise heard from their garden when they regularly entertain.

‘The shape of the land with the trees along the river means residents can easily hear talking and noise from their gardens around the pool area.

‘Raising the terrace area will exacerbate this if no trees or noise reduction is installed along the low walls by the gates.

‘We object to the raising of the area unless some noise reduction can be installed along the boiler rooms walls and around where this raising will be.’

The neighbour added: ‘If noise reduction, for example trees along their wall, can be put in then we don’t object to this but the noise that comes from their garden is already quite substantial.

‘And it will be accentuated with this area being raised due to their low walls and no vegetation along the walls to compensate, meaning that we will hear all noise from this area even more clearly.’

Council officials are due to make a decision on the planning application for the pool next month.

Daily Mail has contacted a representative for Craig for comment.

Speaking in 2023 about his move out of London, Craig said he was beginning to find life in the capital ‘tiring’ and was fed up of celeb spotters.

He wrote for the Daily Mail: ‘In the early years of Strictly I could get around Camden pretty well unnoticed, but as the show grew I was finding it increasingly difficult to get from A to B without being recognised.

‘Most people who approach me are really lovely and I love chatting to them. But when I am in a hurry, feeling ugly as hell, or just wanting to be another face in the crowd, it can get a bit much.

‘I was working a lot at a theatre in Newbury, Berkshire, so it made sense for me to look around that area. I was also dating Damon Scott, the monkey-puppet boy from Britain’s Got Talent, who lived nearby in Salisbury.’

Recalling when he first laid eyes on his home, Craig continued: ‘There was a breathtaking view of what looked like an old-fashioned manor house (although it’s only ten years old), standing in lush lawns and picturesque countryside.

‘When I walked into the house, I was blown away. It wasn’t long before I performed the biggest no-no in house viewing: mentally furnishing the rooms.

‘I imagined a white baby grand piano perfectly placed in front of the picture window and my Swarovski-encrusted Buddhas sitting happily on the Italian marble hearth. Not to mention my selection of white ceramic dancing pigs that had been looking for just such a generous mantel to high-step on.

‘Next, I entered the room that is my measure of any home of worth: the dining room. It was filled with natural light and long enough to seat 20 people. Big tick there. The kitchen, meanwhile, was bigger than my whole terrace in Camden.

‘I wasn’t a fan of the decor. But the place had great bones and was crying out for some CRH flair. I knew I could turn it into something really A-MA-ZING.’
