Country singer Megan Moroney was less than impressed after a fan at her show in Birmingham, England, threw a hat at her while she was on stage.
In a video posted online, the 26-year-old is seen performing at the O2 Institute on Tuesday, crooning her calm, melancholy ballad titled 28th of June, when the hat was seen flying across stage and brushing against her upper thigh.
Megan’s expression instantly changed from mellow to surprised to irritated, and she shook her head slightly in disbelief before glancing angrily in the fan’s direction.
The rude gesture seemed to throw her off as she could be seen pursing her lips and tapping her fingers across the microphone handle, looking frustrated for the rest of the number.
During a second song, Hope You’re Happy, she subtly flipped the bird at the fan as she crooned the lyrics: ‘I hope your ships never start sinking.’
Megan Moroney, 26, was shocked when a fan threw a hat at her during her concert in Birmingham, England
She later clarified that, at that moment, the offending fan was getting kicked out of the show as he’d continued to be ‘obnoxious.’
The interaction was captured in two parts by a fan who later shared it to TikTok under the handle @Big1Country.
In one of the posts, Megan, who is currently touring with her new album Am I Okay, chimed into the comment section to offer key context around the interaction.
‘Weird way to title this vid & not include context,’ she explained.
‘A guy threw a hat at me & it scared the hell out of me.
‘I gave a [middle finger] when he was getting kicked out & continued to be obnoxious.’
Commenters under both posts jumped to the singer’s defense.
‘It’s very disrespectful! It happens at every concert now! Grow up people! They are there to sing not get hit by you throwing things at them,’ one wrote.
The country singer was visibly annoyed in the immediate aftermath
She later gave the unruly fan the middle finger as he was being escorted out of the venue for continuing to act out
TikTok users quickly came to Megan’s defense in the two posts documenting the incident
‘Pls pls pls don’t throw stuff! It’s disturbing, inappropriate and immature. Grow up people,’ a second echoed.
‘Pls do not throw things at entertainers! Pls treat artists and entertainers with love and respect,’ a third agreed.
‘She’s the boss. Don’t forget it. Her show,’ a fourth declared.
‘Go off queen,’ a fifth cheered of her middle-fingered clapback to the ill-mannered fan.
Megan is currently on tour in Europe and just announced her Am I Okay tour, which will kick off in March 2025.
In July, the artist came clean about the rumors she was dating fellow country musician, Morgan Wallace.
The singer confirmed she dated the Voice alum, 31, but ‘never exclusively’ as she appeared on Wednesday’s episode of the Call Your Daddy podcast.
‘I have so tried to avoid that [question] in every single interview I’ve ever done,’ she said.
