A Coronation Street legend has teased that he could be making a spectacular return to the soap – despite his character dropping dead five years ago.
Nigel Havers could be bringing trouble to the Cobbles yet again if he reprises his role as the villainous conman Lewis Archer.
Appearing on Tuesday’s instalment of Good Morning Britain, the 72-year-old actor hinted that his Corrie villain could be making a fourth shock return – but this time from beyond the grave.
His character was first seen on our TV screens back in 2009 as a love interest for Audrey Roberts, leaving her heartbroken when he stole £4,000 from Barlow’s Bookies and fled the country.
The conman, who was also a male escort, returned to the soap in 2012, insisting that he is a changed man.

However, he soon got up to his old tricks and fleeced Audrey’s daughter Gail Platt out of £40,000 by pretending to be in love with her, before leaving again.
And just when the family thought they had escaped Lewis, he made a comeback for a third time five years later, putting a plan in motion with a clairvoyant in order to extort more cash from Gail.
He was eventually caught out and was forced to return the money and spend two months in jail, which led Audrey to think he was finally a changed man.
But, in classic soap opera style, there was no happy ending and instead their relationship ended when Nigel Havers’ character passed away suddenly on New Year’s Day in 2019.
Speaking to GMB hosts Ed Balls and Ranvir Singh, the actor confessed: ‘We always talk about Corrie.. You never know, I may come back!’
And although this is the biggest hint yet, it’s not the first time Nigel has teased the character’s comeback.
Chatting on Loose Women back in 2019, he said he would ‘always’ love to return to the soap.
The actor said she ‘absolutely loved’ playing the villainous character and while it seemed unlikely at the time that Nigel could ever return to the soap, the panel went onto say that there are still conspiracy theories that his character is alive.

During the interview, Nigel reflected on his time playing Lewis, alongside his ongoing romance with Audrey Roberts.
Despite his wicked ways, many soap fans grew to love their relationship, and fans were stunned when he dropped dead of a heart attack with an engagement ring for Audrey in his hands.
When asked whether he could ever be resurrected, Nigel said: ‘I’d always go back. I absolutely loved doing it.
‘The people are so nice and the story lines are so great. I call myself a letterbox actor which means anything that comes through the letterbox, I do.’
He continued: ‘I played a charmer years ago and this was an updated version. In the end I turned out to be really nice. I had the engagement ring in my pocket.’
The panel went onto reveal that there are conspiracy theories rife that Lewis is still alive, and Nigel refused to confirm or deny the possibility that we could see him in Weatherfield again in the future.
He added: ‘You just don’t know. Or he has a twin brother somewhere. Or maybe I’m in Barbados waiting to come back.’

According to The Sun, Gail will have a happy ending after all as she will l rekindle her romance with Martin Platt and sail off into the sunset.
Sean Wilson, 59, who is widely known for his role as Martin in the ITV soap, will reportedly make his return for her final scenes after quitting the show in 2005 to become a cheese-maker.
And although the pair’s ten-year union ended when Sean’s character Martin had an affair, he is considered the most successful relationship in Gail’s previous five marriages.
A source told The Sun: ‘A number of options were considered for Gail’s departure from the cobbles but bosses knew the moment needed to truly celebrate one of Corrie’s most iconic characters as well as honour Helen’s astonishing run on the soap.’
‘It just didn’t sit right to kill her off or have Gail suffer more tragedy after, let’s face it, a pretty traumatic life.
‘Martin was always considered the one that got away and bosses are thrilled they’ve been able to tempt Sean back to wave Gail goodbye.’
The source also revealed viewers should expect to see ‘many twists and turns’ but the scriptwriters want Gail’s story to end with a happy ending.
