Excited for the arrival of their baby girl in spring, Briony also revealed that she is planning another home birth after having a successful one with daughter Daisy.
The couple have previously been open about having two tragic miscarriages within four months of one another.
Sam and his Briony shared that they were expecting twins but sadly lost one due to Vanishing Twin Syndrome.
In a new interview, they shared their joy over the pregnancy and stated that it was ‘very bittersweet’.
Briony told Ok! magazine: ‘We were excited and thankful, because we always wanted a baby that was healthy. Then we started thinking,
‘We could have had two… Will the living twin always wonder, ‘What if?’ and will they feel lonely?’ We found ourselves questioning what could have been, while feeling grateful for what we’ve got.’
Their sad loss was due to a condition called Vanishing Twin Syndrome, which occurs when one foetus stops growing and the mother’s body absorbs the embryo.
Sam and Briony were told that she was expecting non-identical twins after a midwife discovered the remaining amniotic sac during an ultrasound scan.
Briony said: ‘If we hadn’t had the early scan, I wouldn’t even have known. But it does explain why I was so sick and tired this time around compared to my other pregnancies.

During a TV appearance in August, Briony broke down talking about her previous miscarriage heartbreak on Loose Women.
She appeared on the show along with her actor husband after telling in July how she suffered two miscarriages within just four months of each other.
Speaking on the chat show she bravely told how neither pregnancy reached 12 weeks and that while it has been tough, other women sharing their stories helped her heal.
She said of why she decided to share the news of her loses: ‘It would have been so much harder for me without listening to other peoples stories.’
‘I had hundred and hundred of messages to share their similar experiences. I felt very pleased that I had done it. There is support there and it helped me known that I wasn’t alone.’
The heartbreaking news came just over a year after the pair confirmed that they had welcomed their second child together.
The couple – who were already parents to their son Sonny, two – confirmed that Briony had given birth to a baby girl in May 2022.
Sam then added of how he felt after the miscarriages: ‘I can’t understand in a way because it’s not my body but being there was tough.
‘I am proud that she was able to put it out there. I felt a bit naive because I didn’t release that it was so common.’
Bryony then added: ‘For some people they feel like they don’t want to admit that it is happening. Sometime people ask when the next one is coming along.

‘I’ve had a lady ask me that before. Unless people know what you’ve been through then it is a sensitive topic and they know not to bring it up’
‘We never reached 12 weeks with either of them. I told family and close friends, then with the next one I thought I might not tell them to save myself the heartbreak in case, but we did tell them.’
On July 1 she revealed that she had suffered two miscarriages within just four months of each other.
Devastated Briony took to Instagram to confirm the heartbreaking news, admitting it was a very ‘difficult’ thing to share.
In her lengthy post, she shared a photograph of her original pregnancy test and opened up about how ‘heartbreaking and unfair’ the devastating news was.
She penned: ‘This is a difficult thing to share, but in the interest of breaking the taboo, I’m miscarrying again, the second time in four months…’.
‘It’s heartbreaking and it’s unfair, BUT I’m not seeking sympathy, I feel well supported and want others to feel supported too.’
The mother told how she had told close friends and family about both her pregnancies and said she decided to share her miscarriage news online after hearing from other women about the loss they have struggled with.

‘And that’s why I wanted to post this today, because having people you can talk to and receiving comfort from those who have been through something similar makes the world of difference,’ she went on.
‘We’d told close friends and family about both pregnancies, because I knew that, for me, I would want support from those people if it wasn’t meant to last.
‘But I wouldn’t have been so open had I not heard from other women about the babies they lost and their stories.’
Towards the end of the post, Briony went on to thank all the women before her who have shared their miscarriage stories.
‘So thank you to all the women before me who have shared their stories and talked about their babies, it makes processing this a lot easier, and I don’t feel alone at all,’ she added.
‘In fact I feel the opposite of alone, I feel held and heard and I hope that by continuing these difficult conversations about miscarriage and pregnancy loss we open the door for others who will sadly experience loss too #1in4’.

Daisy was born on 10 May, 2022, nine days late, following a three-hour labour at their home in Lancashire.
They later confirmed that their daughter was called Daisy Josephine and shared the sweet meaning behind her name.
She told OK!: ‘Josephine is a nod to Sam’s brother Jo and my grandad Joe. Daisy is also the French name for Marguerite and my mum’s mum is called Margaret, so it was a way to have both grandparent’s in there.’
In December 2021, the couple revealed their ‘nice surprise’ that they were expecting a younger sister for Sonny.
Sam told OK! magazine at the time: ‘I could see us having another boy, so it was a really nice surprise. I was quite shocked.
He detailed: ‘There are twins in Briony’s family, so when we went in I was a bit nervous and said, ‘There’s definitely only one in there, right?” He said, ‘There’s only one!’ and then told us it was a girl!’
The couple at the time weren’t planning on having another child so soon but claimed they were happy to be having kids that will be close in age.
Taking to Instagram at the time, they shared a photo of Sonny holding a blackboard that read: ‘We’re adding another pumpkin to our patch! Spring 2022.’
Briony previously said the couple were trying ‘not’ to get pregnant because Sonny was born premature and she worried there could be a risk of another premature birth so soon after having him.
